Funny how we all see things differently. I overheard someone near me at around 85 minutes saying we deserved at least a point. I checked my phone to look at the stats to see they had 16 shots to just our 3.

Even before the sending off we didn't get into the game and it looked like only a matter of time before they scored. The same starting XI as Saturday probably meant a few tired legs but with a small squad we haven't got many options.

As for the red, we need to be smarter and control our aggression better. It's not the first red this season we've had for an unnecessary 50/50 lunge (Whitmore, Fleming, Winnard off the top of my head) and they cost us points and suspensions we can't afford with a squad of our size.

Probably meant we deserved something because (other than a lapse for their goal) we defended really well with ten men.

They only had six shots on target and hardly any of them troubled Baz, some blocked, others closed down so they were weak.

The game as a whole, I thought, was a good one. They looked neat and tidy, played it well on the deck and linked together well.
They had a couple of tricky players but I thought we were just ‘letting them do their fancy stuff’ then stopping them when it got near the danger area. They were good on the eye but hardly troubled our goal. Tom Champion was excellent – one of the best midfield displays I’ve seen this season.
I thought they were starting to run out of ideas a bit, though, just before the sending off and there was every chance we might have come on strong in the second half like we did on Saturday. Not to be.
For us, I thought our centre backs were superb again. Kenyon was swift in the tackle, Edwards (aside from the pen, which was a man-on-man tussle) did well against Akinde and he and Whitmore worked really well as a partnership with one challenging and the other mopping up time and time again. Whitmore was my choice as our MoM.
Shame about Murphy and Kenyon (probably, looking at how he limped off) not being available for a few games but if Flemmo and Winnard are fit, it may not be too damaging.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

We just defended a 1.0 loss FFS

Loads of people saying appeal but what's the point
Thought Molly and Kev would have been subbed at half time
Spoilt the night but glad the bar was open till 12...

It's not the first time this season that we've been down to 10 men and as Mark points out we had no plan B.

Surely if you loose a midfielder and have to then put a striker back into midfield the last thing you do is to invite pressure by contantly punting the ball upfield to a single forward where their man mountain was winning every header but looked suspect when on the odd occassion he was presented with having to face someone with the ball at his feet. Baz seemed intent on punting the ball as long as he could rather than throwing it out to our defence and then playing the ball on the deck through midfield.

It was obvious that he had been instructed to do so which suggets to me that in situations like last night that we don't have a Plan B and hope that we can hold out for a point.

Others will no doubt have different opinions but that's what SVs is all about... :)

As so often, different people see things differently. Yes, their No 5 won everything in the air - let's face it, he didn't have to jump to do it, but although he was slower than a tortoise on mogadons, our players couldn't get round him with the ball 'cos he just bullied them off. As for Baz, I don't think he is necessarily operating under instruction when he punts. You occasionally see him looking for the short ball, but he takes too long. My opinion is it's his speed of decision making that causes so many long balls upfield. Compare him to Scott Davies when he came back to us on loan; no hesitation, and he was looking for the quick release immediately. You see the same thing in the outfield, where some playesr are much more aware of their surroundings and team-mates, and they'll sometimes play a superb ball on for another player, but that player wasn't alive to the intent/possibility, and we lose possession.

I do agree with Shrimper about Whitmore as MoM. I thought he had a superb game, and I said to Mrs A at one point that in one evening he'd earned his wages for the rest of the season with the number of blocks and tackles he made.

All tucked up in a private hospital bed by the looks of it.

Good job the lads have private medical cover for such eventualities.

If that had been on the NHS he'd still be waiting in some corridor waiting for a bed to become free no doubt....not that I've any problem with the use of private hospitals.

Get well soon Alex.

Wonder if the Yorkshire Clinic in Bingley will allow us to send Alex a bunch of grapes... ;) :?:

On a more serious note, it's just as well that the club is able to fund the premiums for the use of private medi care as over the last few seasons the club has made use of private facilities quite extensively.

I was pleased to see Alex's choice of newspaper in the photo that he has tweeted ;)
