What's the future

What's the future

Please ignore my ignorance, As a life long Lancaster fan I take no pleasure in the going ons at your club, I have been a life long friend of Rod Taylor and still keep in contact with a couple of your players, I don't seem able to get my thick marsh head around what is exactly happening with your team/ finances/ owners, could somebody please explain in thick mans terms what you need and what you are expecting from owners/ new ownership. Unlike some people I am not enjoying the termoil that your club is enduring, to see people turning up for work and not getting paid is totally unacceptable in any walk of life as fresh air doesn't pay bills. Looking forward your team is doing you all so proud on the field and on current form promotion would be achievable. wishing you all the best yours in sport B Heron

It appears G50 Holdings are the owners of the Morecambe FC shares or at least Peter McGuigan's former holding thought to be around 3 million shares. Graham Burford a North East based accountant is the majority shareholder in G50 Holdings so he is a key player.

Diego Lemos is disputing this even though he has never put a penny into MFC and even owes Graham Burford £1,000 for forming the limited company.

Abdul Rahman is a client of Graham Burford and is so far the only person to put money into Morecambe FC and he has invested £400,000.

There is a further court hearing on 29/30 March to try and confirm who actually owns Morecambe FC.

Another player in the scenario is Joseph Calas although he may or not be an interested party now.

In my book our future lies in the purchase of the club by a group of business people- preferably local, to develop the football side of the club not as an opportunity to make a fast buck. So far we have attracted people( Abdul apart) with no significant money who obviously think they can make money out of our club. They have shown no real interest in the club and have no affinity with Morecambe. New owners would have to look at reducing the club's annual losses by increasing gates, developing the hospitality side of the business and finding sponsorship for the ground and the main stand. They would need to bring a professional approach to our off the field activities something we currently seem to lack. The new owner would preferably welcome the newly formed Supporters Trust and together they would work to continue the development of league football.

It's not just you who can't get your head around it noone can and that's why it's ended up in court.

For some reason people seem to think there is money to ebe made at Morecambe where they get that idea from who knows as we loose 500k a year and the land is in trust so can't be sold.

Thr sooner they all realise this and disappear the better and as mentioned hopefully we could get a new owner who will work with the trust and have the club at heart.

However to get to that point I fear we might have to go into administration.

The fire is - nobody knows! Fortunately while all these people argue off the pitch, Jim and the lads are doing the business on it!
I can see people's idea of going in to admin. but when would you ideally do that ... 19 points ahead of 23rd with 3 to play? ..and if we did what would the players think of that??

Can't see any of the current runners wanting to keep the club in the longer term and if finding a 'buyer' in the first place was difficult then who on earth is going to trust any of the paperwork after an eventual outcome??

Many questions but not answers

You remember that time Lancaster City got sold to a taxi driver from Carnforth with no money?

It's like that but with a Brazilian.

Its starting to make sense to me, albeit based on a lot of wild assumptions and hearsay!

Diego and Abdul want to buy a club. Abdul's dad has the cash to buy and invest but Diego promises to negotiate a good deal, do the day-to-day work of running the club and be the frontman. Burnard and a few other characters are hired to pull it all together and form G50.

Diego and Abdul stumble across PMG and MFC. First impressions are good. Its cheap as chips, has a half decent new ground and there is even some plans to generate new revenue streams with a bit of cash. PMG says the club is 'almost dept free' and with a few hundred more fans through the gate, could break even. Watching the Blackpool game in front of a bumper crowd and after a fair few ales, Diego puts pen to paper. Abdul is reassured that they have got a bargain.

Once in the club things don't seem quite as rosy. Have they been sold a basket case? The club keeps losing at home, attendances and cashflows drop off, big bills come in. Something called HRMC keep asking for money as well as Barclays bank. Abdul goes back to uni and starts worrying about how he's going to tell his ol' man what he's bought. Diego thinks fook it, I will hit the bar!

Abdul's dad kicks off and cuts off the purse strings. Wages don't get paid, but Diego is too pissed to barely notice. Some guy called Rod keeps telling him what to do. Diego heads to Pine Lake for a blow out and to forget his woes. These other guys on the board can work this out.

The pressure starts to tell and Diego decides to skip off, telling Rod he's off to speak to Abdul's ol' man and will be back with a briefcase of cash in a week or two.

Abdul, keen to avoid the limelight, gets Burnard to take on Diego's shares and starts negotiating with Joe Cala. A deal is struck, but wages are due and no one is prepared to put their hand in their pocket until a deal's done. Diego further screws things up with a bid to get his shares back.

So now we are stuck in limbo, unable to be sold until the court case is resolved. There's a good chance we are looking like another deal with Cala though if it goes in Burnard's (Abdul's) favour but he might be put off now given the great news that Christie's Trust protects the stadium from being sold off for development.

No way, that sounds like a pantomime version of Tales Of the Unexpected, so it can't have happened

Thanks Billy, your message means so much to me. We had a great night raising funds for Marshy's family recently and there will be more to follow, that's what football is all about. Great to see the Dolly's at the top of the league, enjoy and get that promotion! RT
