Its starting to make sense to me, albeit based on a lot of wild assumptions and hearsay!
Diego and Abdul want to buy a club. Abdul's dad has the cash to buy and invest but Diego promises to negotiate a good deal, do the day-to-day work of running the club and be the frontman. Burnard and a few other characters are hired to pull it all together and form G50.
Diego and Abdul stumble across PMG and MFC. First impressions are good. Its cheap as chips, has a half decent new ground and there is even some plans to generate new revenue streams with a bit of cash. PMG says the club is 'almost dept free' and with a few hundred more fans through the gate, could break even. Watching the Blackpool game in front of a bumper crowd and after a fair few ales, Diego puts pen to paper. Abdul is reassured that they have got a bargain.
Once in the club things don't seem quite as rosy. Have they been sold a basket case? The club keeps losing at home, attendances and cashflows drop off, big bills come in. Something called HRMC keep asking for money as well as Barclays bank. Abdul goes back to uni and starts worrying about how he's going to tell his ol' man what he's bought. Diego thinks fook it, I will hit the bar!
Abdul's dad kicks off and cuts off the purse strings. Wages don't get paid, but Diego is too pissed to barely notice. Some guy called Rod keeps telling him what to do. Diego heads to Pine Lake for a blow out and to forget his woes. These other guys on the board can work this out.
The pressure starts to tell and Diego decides to skip off, telling Rod he's off to speak to Abdul's ol' man and will be back with a briefcase of cash in a week or two.
Abdul, keen to avoid the limelight, gets Burnard to take on Diego's shares and starts negotiating with Joe Cala. A deal is struck, but wages are due and no one is prepared to put their hand in their pocket until a deal's done. Diego further screws things up with a bid to get his shares back.
So now we are stuck in limbo, unable to be sold until the court case is resolved. There's a good chance we are looking like another deal with Cala though if it goes in Burnard's (Abdul's) favour but he might be put off now given the great news that Christie's Trust protects the stadium from being sold off for development.
