Accy Stanley 2017/18 Season Ticket Drive

I listened to an interview on Radio lancs last night. Accy Stanley have started selling their season tickets for next season already. They're making a big fuss and aiming to sell 1,000 at reduced rates (the same pricing structure we already operate!) - they sold 850 this season according to the programme. Amazing that they already sell 250-300 more season tickets than we do.... and they're looking to increase this.... when you consider the facilities they have and the local competition.

Obviously everything's up in the air at the moment with the ownership situation, but I've felt for a long time that we need to grow our gate by getting people to commit to buy a season ticket - tbh I've never understood why people who come to more than 15 home games a season don't.

The show also discussed Stanley's campaign 'Up In Lights' through their Supporters Trust. They've raised £22k for a new big screen telly. Well done to them, just goes to show what can be achieved with a Supporters group that is unified and working together and perhaps an indication of what the new Shrimps Supporters Trust can achieve, with the right people involved, when it's up and running.

I'm unsure about exactly how many Season Tickets we sell season on season, but credit to Accy for trying to increase their numbers.

It's certainly a subject that our new owners (who and when they are confirmed) need to address as a matter of urgency.

They have to make the offer an attractive one to encourage more sales but not too much to make match day income from the acual 'gate' suffer.

An extended FA Cup run would of course be most welcome to increase match day revenue.

Apparently we sold in the region of 550-600 eason tickets last year... it was posted on here a few months ago from EFL data.

Personally I think our season tickets are already good value; for terraces they work out less than £10 a game. Like a lot of things, they aren't marketed well enough.

Accy, a team that most fans view as at worst on a par with in terms of support Base, sell more season tickets than we do and up until now they charged more for them. How are we behind Stanley on this front? We've a bigger catchment, less conpetition and better facilities?*

I don't buy a season ticket just because my shifts dictate what games I go to but also I look at it that the club still need to make money on a week to week basis.

The reason we havn't bought a season ticket is that we can't make evening matches. When you add in a couple of Saturday's missed too for holidays etc., it's cheaper just to pay per match. It would be good if there was an option of either a Saturday's only season ticket or some kind of reduction for bulk buying, i.e. 10 games for the price of 9 ticket booklets or similar. Our season ticket offering is really "all or nothing" - not good at all for those who know they won't be able to attend all the games.

I just feel that our club needs to be more pro active in promoting the season tickets PLUS alternatives as suggested by KenH and others on numerous occassions. Maybe when we have a new marketing manager at the club he or she will bring fresh ideas other than those that have been in place for numerous years. We can't stand still. We have to as a club be constantly looking for new revenue streams irrespective of the hassle that it may cause in other quarters.

After all the survival of our club is greater than that of individuals.

So Accy and Morecambe sell their season tickets for around the same price. Accy sell 850 and we sell 550. We both end up averaging around the same attendance. Doesn't that mean we are actually slightly better off? I think getting more ST holders is part of growing a fanbase, but feel both clubs need to do more to attract more floating and casual fans too.

i think that accys pay on the day price for a terrace spot is £21.i may be wrong though

Accy do a fan card scheme, I.e. you pay an amount (say £20) for the card, then you get a couple of quid knocked off your match ticket.

Our season ticket is the equivalent of 10 free games. Surely no Morecambe fan is missing that many?

Personally, I'd buy a season ticket even if I wasn't going to go to every game and have done in the past when I've lived away from the area. Nobody is not buying a season ticket because they have considerations of the club needing money on a match to match basis... it's purely people not seeing them as value for money (parky because of poor marketing, party people not appreciating the bigger picture) or lacking cash to buy them during early bird periods.

I think if we had more season ticket holders, you'd see a sharp rise in concession spending.

Having been an on and off season ticket holder recently this is very true. Problem is I struggle to find things to spend my cash on at the moment other than beer.

I like to watch from different parts of the stadium. eg. Berlin wall if weather is fine. Omega if inclement and seats occasionally. I've held season tickets for all parts but don't like to be restricted to that area.
I don't mind "pay as you go " because the club receives more money from me.

That's exactly what I do mate with mine.

Berlin Wall when not raining (although I have been caught out a lot ), and the Omega if raining when entering ground.

You can upgrade your standing ticket to a seat by paying the little bit extra which I do a couple of times also.
