Anyone Find a Wallet on Saturday?

Postby marky No.1 » Tue Mar 07, 2017 7:09 pm

My mate Geoff has lost it. There was £75 in it, the cards have been cancelled.
What he really wants are the photos back of sentimental value..

Turns out some numpties have been using his card on contactless, spent £55, the bank have refunded him. If these are Morecambe fans they need a big shake!

Cctv, now police are on to it so good luck

Hope the CC-TV identifies them. If the scum are Morecambe fans I hope they'll get caught and never dare show their face again.

Trouble is, they've probably dumped the wallet & photos by now.

This highlights a problem with having a contactless card. My existing PIN one still has a few more years' life and apparently you can choose not to have a contactless one... sounds a good idea to me!

Hmm... depends upon the risk/convenience I suppose. I've got two accounts, one has a contactless card. When I first got it I didn't think I'd want it or want to use it, but once I got in the habit, it became my payment of choice. Usually if only buying stuff of a lower value, it is when I'm not wanting to hang around. And if it does get stolen or used fraudulently, you get the money back anyway.

My non-contactless card got cloned a few years ago. The bank picked up on it really quickly, but the value of the purchases made in about 12 hours were much bigger.

Yeah good luck with that. I had over £6000 worth of phones and electronic equipment bought in my name. Reported to the police the exact time and dates of where this was done and they didn't give a shit because 'i wasn't the victim'. If the bank has given the £55 back then it'll likely be the same story, it's the bank that's lost out.
