And some fell on stoney ground!!! :D
Thought we should have brought a Galley on early second half and then sub Kev for Timmins late on!

Maybe its because he was so good when he first arrived, maybe he sent my expectation levels too high?
Interestingly, you dont question my thoughts on Murphy ;)

Right, I'll give you another chance, I really, really think you're being harsh on Jennings.

Bladdy ell you poor bugga , you must be totally confused introducing yourself on this post . All those players that were mentioned and we still lost , some players got blamed for a poor performance even though they were about 90 miles away . If only Arnold had come off the bench, it could have a much better result, but with Waynaldo returning soon results should start to improve . ;)

And still is a legend.
Many years ago, when us and Chorley were two of the better sides in the NPL (early 90's) we identified Arnold in the crowd at Victory Park, so we got chatting. Us being in our late 20's and early 30's, he was a nice chap who had nothing but good things to say about MFC.
All the older supporters there that day couldn't talk to him, as he was Arnold Timmins, the baby faced executioner, a legend!!
Arnold happily agreed to complete a questionnaire for Corpus Christie ( one of the fanzines at the time ) which he sent through and we printed.
Top bloke.

He was known as "8 goal Arnie" after blasting 8 goals against Rossendale. I would think that must be a club record and it is likely to stand for ever.

You talk almost as highly of his ability as he did

It's through his affiliation that I've ended up following Morecambe - I have a load of old newspaper clippings from his time there, mostly surrounding when they won the Lancs Senior Cup against Burnley (I think??). Can't even imagine how good a day that must have been!

I have supported from a distance for a long time, up until the last couple of years when I've started getting to more and more home games - hoping to take the plunge and get myself a season ticket next year. Great club and great people (off-pitch nonsense aside).

Yes it was a great night and as an 8 year old was my first ever game. The crowd were packed in like sardines and I can still remember a bit of the game. Funnily enough not the goals or the team with the cup, but one of our players leaping in front of us and powering a header goal wards (Might have been Timmins but not sure). Having just started playing myself (with the old heavy leather caseys) I think it stuck in my memory all this time because I thought it must have hurt because of the weight of the balls in those days. I am a bit young to remember your grandad but he is a legend and is still talked about amongst the older end today 50 years later!

I'm sure Shrimper told me that much archive stuff was lost in a fire at the newspaper offices
years ago, so some of those clippings might be worth archiving again.
Glen will know more details.

In fact, thinking back, our logo for Corpus Christie was a cartoon shrimp we called Timmins, if I could find an original copy I'll post it on here.

Yep - it was. And I'm not sure how many of the existing (more recent) paper files were taken to the new offices on White Lund.

Morecambe library has everything on microfilm and you can get photocopies - but actual cuttings will be rare.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

I know for a fact that club historian and statistician Lawrence Bland has ALL newspaper clippings from The Visitor relating to MFC back as far as the 1950's.

One hell of a club record he's got. Superb.

That is absolutely brilliant! Was he aware that he'd had this shrimp named after him? If he was, can't imagine he'd be happy about the lack of hair, I'm told he was always very proud that he had a thick head of it

If I do have anything worth archiving I'd be very happy for it to fall into the right hands (temporarily) - who would be the best person to speak to?
