Former Shrimps Thread

On Saturday afternoon I had an amble down to see my local team - Milnthorpe Corinthians.

There was a lad in the middle of the park for Corinthians who looked a bit of a cut above the rest, I enquired who he was - Aaron Taylor

It's sometimes good to see a different standard of football and I've watched kendal on a few occassions this season.

One player who has stood out head and shoulders above the rest has been Sam Bailey; brother of former Shrimp Charlie Bailey. To score 17 goals from midfield takes some doing whatever the level and he looks more than capable of playing at a higher level. In fact I'd rate him higher than his brother who I along with others felt that Charlie should have been given more game time when with us.

I've also been to a few games involving my future Son in Laws team Scarboro and this coming Saturday they are at Colwyn Bay hoping to confirm their play off place in their league.

Colwyn Bay I seem to recall was where we confirmed our elevation to the Conference Leage, so it may be a happy return to that ground as I'm planning on going to see if Scarboro can get into their league's Play Offs.

:)

Indeed it was. Last game of 1994/95 season on a Tuesday night.

We were on "Goals For 99" prior to kick off. We drew. 0-0.

Great night though ;) :D

Shaun Beeley scored Barrow's 2nd in their 3-1 win over North Ferriby Utd yesterday. It was his first goal in all comps since our 3-1 defeat at Bury in the JPT on 7th October 2014 and first league goal since 24th March 2012 when he scored Fleetwood's first in a 2-0 win over Mansfield... Jamie Vardy scored the winner!

Stats. :ugeek:

And he was also squaring up to a team mate and had to be separated during their previous game defeat at Bromley.

I heard from an insider that Beeley was a disruptive influence in the dressing room.

A good friend of mine who is involved behind the scenes at Bury FC told me the same about when he was at Gigg Lane too.

And.... in the same game.... a certain Connor Oliver missed a penalty for North Ferriby which ultimately relegated them. Ho hum.

Not just in the dressing room either. There were several occasions between him and Andy Parrish last season where they were arguing and bickering on the pitch rather than getting on with the game. It seemed to be one of the reasons for Parrish's performance issues last season with him playing next to Beeley throwing his weight around as captain.

The Hartlepool forum is an interesting read this morning.... :o

Apparently Dave Jones turned up for his first radio interview scruffily dressed and chomping on a sausage butty...!!

And, some comments about Lewis Alessandra. Sound familiar ??

Alessandra is an enigma for me, I know I only see a handful of games these days but the ones I have seen he looks the part but takes that extra touch and holds onto it to long every single time. Too many blind alleys and no end product despite looking great in the build up. Wouldn't be disappointed if he left

On the odd occasion that Scott pumped the ball upfield rather than throw to one of his defenders Tranmere scored their third and eventual winner. Tranmere looked good in patches playing it on the deck more than in the air.

Tranmere now in second position and in line for at least one Wembley appearance. Cole didn't impress on this occasion for me and was taken off with around 30 to go.

He impressed tonight though, scoring a brace in their 3-0 win play-off semi 1st leg win at Aldershot. Great turn and shot for the first in the 3rd minute.

Scott in goal again and Jack Dunn an unused sub.

Goalkeeper in tonight's play-off semi for Scunthorpe was Anyon.

Is it the same guy who we loaned a few years back and let a late winner from Bury sneak through his hands ?

Oh I dunno... scored a wonder goal up at McDiarmid Park then didn't he suffer a serious injury which he never fully recovered from?
