Oh dear. Expect the number of these emails to grow now that you confirmed it is a 'live' email and, without intending to be rude, shown that you are at least *
slightly* taken in by them. I guess you do have an HSBC, Barclays, Yorkshire, Santander or Lloyds TSB account? They are getting better at looking 'right'.
If you have on-line banking, if you get anything like this, NEVER respond and NEVER, EVER, EVER follow the links. Just log on to your account and check then.
As an aside, if you get a phone call from a 'bank', and you say you are going to phone them back yourself, use a different phone. Most people would use a landline, as it will be an 0800 or similar number. If the scammers don't hang up, the line doesn't clear, so you go back to them. They just play a 'dial tone', so you think you are dialling someone else.
