who was the German guy above Steve Done in the team photo on the club website ?

he was involved at the club for many years if I remember right !

He wasn't called Joe Vietoris or something like that was he? Very involved in the 70's with local football and I think he had a smallholding or market garden off Oxcliffe Road.

I worked for Darchem with Joe in the early 80s on Heysham stage 2 build. He owned the greenhouses you can see from the railway bridge on Oxcliffe road by the GPO road and lived in one of the houses down there. He used to grow roses and tomatos commercially, I used to get my tomato plants from him. He told me that he stayed in England after being imprisoned here as a POW during WW2.
He was a great guy and had many tales to tell during the long shifts working inside the reactors (before they had fuel in them).
Sadly when we finished there I lost touch with him much to my shame.

thanks and well done guys, yes it was Joe, I used to talk to him a lot at CP.

I think he eventually returned to Germany.

He was a scout for man city at one point, good friend of my father in law.
