Roche to leave?

Roche to leave?

Postby mainy » Thu May 11, 2017 9:29 pm

The youth team keeper from this season Niall Maher has tweeted that he's been offered a pro contract (https://twitter.com/nyloofficial/status ... 1019387904).

With Nizic having another year on his contract and Roche being out of contract, could that mean that Roche is leaving? I highly doubt we would have three keepers on the wage bill in such a small squad.

hhmm, for me this season when I've seen Roche play, it's the same Barry Roche like I've seen in previous seasons, still a good shot stopper, and makes the odd mistake, and keepers careers tend to last long than outfield players.

but you never know, look at last season I was surprised when Jim got rid of Andy Parrish, who for me playing levels were the same, always put a hood shift in, and he'd certainly not lost any pace.

but like I said you never know, be an interesting summer all the same.

I think Barry is looking at a fresh challenge .

A dual role at a lower league club perhaps?

Could be a way of providing more money to pay for a quality striker.

DN proved in the few games he played that he has what it takes to be a good goalkeeper at our level.

Obviously would be sorry to see Baz go but the bigger picture of providing funds for other areas of the pitch are more important. As for Baz's ( at a lower level as my mate hinted :?: ) future possibly AFC Fylde or even Chorley.... :?: :?: :?:

Hoping issues get sorted out off the pitch first because we need an experienced keeper as well as a striker. Hoping Barry stays but if not then we need a experienced goalkeeper such as Alex Cisak who has probably played his last match at Orient. He has plenty of experience at league one and two level and played for Burnley, Oldham & Accrington.

A good goalkeeper is vital , a key position in the spine of the team.

IMHO Baz is still the best goalkeeper at The Globe and I would be worried if we were letting him go to use his wages for a striker.

Rather than the biggest challenge in League football, keeping the Shrimps in it each season???

I think he was better this season than last and I'd like to see him stay for another season. But I've not seen much of Dan, so perhaps he's ready to step up?

Difficult one this.

Baz or money for wages to pay for a proven striker..... :?: :?: :?:

No way to confirm this but I wouldn't be surprised if Baz is our highest wage earner other than Jimbo.

Where is this proven striker that we can get for free transfer to pay £1k a week or so?

I would rather have Baz who has had a great season and keeps us in games and gets us points.

I'd say the future is pretty uncertain for any of our out of contract players until this effing court case is settled and a long-term owner is secured. That said, Baz is still our best option between the sticks, so hope he gets a year's extension with Big Dan getting some experience in cup games etc.

Nearly every fan in League 2 wants their team to get a 'quality proven striker' and hence they come at a cost.....if you can find them. You used to talk about Jim finding hidden gems amongst the non league teams CC and now you want one that's quality and proven. Dream on.

I dont think that Niall Maher getting a contract is a sure sign of Roche leaving.

I would personally do everything possible to keep Roche. He's still a good keeper and letting him go to chase this elusive 'proven goal scorer' would be unwise.
