O/T Wembley or boycott ?

O/T Wembley or boycott ?

Postby Christies Child » Fri May 19, 2017 12:54 pm

Sounds as though the gate of the League 2 final at Wembley could be the lowest in the history of play off finals, assuming that Blackpool 'fans' carry out their boycott of the Wembley final as a protest against the Oyston regime.

Whilst I have sympathy with their plight, I for one would not boycott such an important game if it was our club in a similar position as a way of protest against the club's owner.

Blackpool fans (in my opinion) should put aside their concerns for this one game and put the needs of their team on the day before their genuine hatred of the Oystons.

As for the game itself.....just hope that Exeter get promoted as our home gate v 'pool will bring in some extra revenue for our club which, with all due respect to Exeter such a gate would not.

I could be wrong but I thought they were just boycotting home games?

They also boycott any game where the Oyston's will get a percentage of the match takings.

Coventry City fans did the exact same when we faced them at the Globe in the FA Cup last November.

They'll not miss out on Wembley, I think the boycott will be largely ignored.

I would imagine all the fancy dress shops and joke shops in Blackpool will be selling out of masks and disguises shortly! :D

I'd be surprised if they take more than 5000. Although the ticket money isn't going to the Oystons, the boycotters won't want them to get promoted as it will weaken their campaign to get them out. Promotion will inevitably mean fair weather fans will start to return.

approx 20-25% goes to each team, hence why the fans did not go to luton away in the play offs

Its up to the Blackpool fans really. Personally I'd try and stick with my principles.

Regarding the play offs I hope Exeter go up. I've nothing against Blackpool but I enjoy it as close away game and a nice day out.
