Not convinced, unfortunately, I think more people think 'he's not as daft as he pretends to be' and quite like him. Whether he can hold it together through a campaign period I don't know?

My prediction the other day was for Michael Gove as next PM. I see he's back in Cabinet today... is he being manoeuvred back in, ready for succession? May will prefer him to Johnson.

can't see it, with what he did to his mate and Brexit partner Boris Johnson, I wouldn't and I suspect others wouldn't trust him now.

[quote="Posh"]Vikki Sungleton fought the campaign with one hand tied behind her back. She had no money as it wasn't seen as a target / marginal seat. The campaign room was a dance studio and had to be packed away for classes. Yet she still managed to slash Morris's majority.

I never get why the Lancaster and Morecambe seats are never taken seriously as in the past both have had small majorities and have been up for grabs.

It wasn't that long ago the Lancaster majority was something like 350 and Morecambe was around 1000

Also are people really won over by people knocking on your door (if anything it annoys me it's like when the Jehovas witnesses come calling or someone selling something) and positing leaflets through your door? I have normally made up my mind months before an election as you go on the record of the parties over the past few years, not because someone turns up at your door, and if they really cared they would come round all the time to ask people their thoughts not just when they want your vote!

If I want to find out more about a candidate and ask them a question I will look you up and contact you myself, it's like I won't suddenly decided to get double glazing because a sales man knocks on my door, I will get it when I want it/need it and look some companies up myself.

Definitely makes all the difference.

45% have decided to vote one way.
40% have decided to vote the other way.

You knock on the door to get to the other 15% who will decide the outcome.

there's ordinary voters who look at things like this when Voting for a leader and not necessarily voting for the Political Party.

it's like Corbyn people admire him, he's different, straight talking, probably to honest for his own good, but the amount voters he's won.

Ironic, isn't it? Probably the same people who say they dislike politicians because they lie, yet not take Corbyn seriously because of his apparent honesty! You just can't win! ;)

On the contrary, the Labour manifesto was very clear where the funding would come from. You may disagree with the figures but no one could accuse Labour and its leader being obtuse. It's why the Tories and their press friends resorted to attacking him for his past. Which, frankly, most of the people who voted for Labour don't really care about.

Exactly as Marky said. If you didn't know that he'd said exactly where the money would come from it is either demonstrating how the mainstream, Tory supporting media deliberately under reported it, or you were deliberately avoiding listening to Corbyn in case he made sense! Increasing Cooperation tax to a level that is still lower than a decade ago, but we'd have a decent funded NHS & education? Can't have that!

I think we'd better agree to disagree about his manifesto and where the money will come from.

Easy to make promises when you don't expect to take office....and he still lost despite bribes about student fees and grants.

Sole comment here is in defence of the media, as I heard/read on more than one occasion that the Labour manifesto was costed where the Tory one wasn't. There isn't really anything to disagree about, it was all there in black and white, costed.

You might like to disagree with whether the money should be coming from the places it was, as that is an opinion. Where it was coming from isn't really up for debate however, it was fact.

Corbyn said it was from a higher rate of Corporation Tax, a bit extra from those earning over £80 PLUS from other tax increases.

It's the other tax increases that he didn't elaborate on.... :?

I actually agree about the Business tax and higher wage earners paying more..... :)

Have you read the manifesto or just watched him on TV?

On another point, one thing none of the parties mentioned or took into account with their costings was the Brexit leaving bill and what will pay for that.

At a time we need to try our best to keep and attract companies to the UK is it really a good idea to raise corporation tax.

Labour's proposed raises would STILL be lower than the majority of other countries rates.

On this we can all agree 100% - no-one has any clue whatsoever what the outcome will be and whether or not we will be better off. Didn't stop people voting for it, though, eh?

Corbyn made promises he didn't have to keep because he was never going to get in FULL STOP but he has totally destabilised everything by making them and we're all going to pay heavily for it.
The tax increase for those earning OVER £80k was a con because it saved his own MP's who earn over 70K from being included, Why not start it at £70K Jeremy then you can pay your full whack aswell?

Costings? I wouldn't trust any of that lot with a broken pram, that's how good Labour are

Wow! You are saying the destabilisation is Corbyn's fault because he tried to win the election and doing better than expected? You are seriously saying he should have tried to 'lose' so the country would have been more stable under Theresa May? Everything really is his fault in some people's mind.

What a strange concept of 'democracy'.

May wanted a bigger majority so that she could sell off the NHS even quicker. Who now 'owns' Southport & Ormskirk NHS Trust? Answer: Virgin Health Care. That's what you and CC support? If the NHS sell off is slowed down because Corbyn did better than expected, I would say that's a good thing.

I could have taken that quote straight out of the Mail. I think the words, utter rubbish, will suffice. May was the architect of her own instability. She called a needless election under a totally bogus notion of strengthening her hand with the EU. We all know it was she arrogantly thought it was a nice opportunity to slay Labour for good. She ran a shambolic and incompetent campaign, during which the follies of austerity came home to roost. I mean, she told a nurse to her face, with no hint of empathy, that her 7 year real terms wage decrease would continue as there was 'no magic money tree'. I bet they manage to locate one now they need to get the grubby DUP onside. In short, it backfired, spectacularly. That is NOT the fault of Jeremy Corbyn. Nor is it the fault of Labour. They took part in an election, they had a manifesto that offered those of us sick of austerity hope and they exceeded all expectations. And, incidentally, the Labour manifesto would be seen as decidedly mainstream in many European countries.
