Find it interesting someone accusing Corbyn of destabilising the country by making bribes/empty promises. Anyone remember just 12 months ago certain people claiming we could repatriate £350 million a week to spend on the NHS?

Indisputable that we (The UK) contributes £350 million per week into the EU.

Actually it is disputable, as it includes the rebate, which in essence never goes to the EU but we are free to spend as we will, but ignoring that, if we spent it all on the NHS, what would happen to the in excess of £100 million that comes back each week for agriculture, research, education, infrastructure etc, assuming we pay absolutely nothing whatsoever for any kind of access to the EU market. So no, we don't give £350 million to the EU each week, and most of the senior figures in the leave campaign tried to distance themselves from the claim, and if we spent it all on the NHS, other areas of our economy would suffer, and businesses selling to or buying from the EU would have significantly increased costs due to tariffs one way or the other.

The "Remain" people told a few whoppers as well and they had the £9 million cost of brochures on their side as well.

But it wasn't all about money. It was about having our sovereignty back and the UK parliament making laws for us rather than unelected EU bureaucrats. Then if we don't like the laws we vote governments out.

Which laws in particular, that were imposed on us by the EU (in which we had no say and our government didn't support) particularly worried you?

And how did they dilute our sovereignty?

How about the Common Agricultural Policy and the Common Fishing Policy ?

The CAP which allows huge food mountains while people starve. The Common Fishing Policy which has destroyed the fishing industry in Scotland and England in particular by allowing Spanish and other factory farmers to rape our seas. And if our UK fishermen exceed their catch quota we have the obscene sight of dead fish that are edible being thrown back into the seas !

The dreaded V.A.T. is obligatory for states that are EU members. The UK had to adopt it when they joined The Common Market and it replaced Purchase Tax. Leaving the EU gives the UK the option of keeping V.A.T. or replacing it with something more equitable and less of an imposition on the lower paid.

Not necessarily EU but European judges prevented anyone deporting "The Hook" until Theresa May finally managed to send him to the USA for their pleasure.

^This is a big factor, where surrounded by Sea, but yet import fish like Cod and Haddick what you can catch in Morecambe Bay. and the rest of the U.K.

also regarding our own Laws, after these recent terror attacks in the UK, Human Rights vs British Bill of rights.

when dealing with these hate preachers for example like Hook Hand Hamza and taking us over 10 years to extradite(5 years through British Courts and then another 5 years through EU Courts) like Thearsa May said in a live TV interview, after the London Bridge Terror Attack, after Brexit we'll make laws to suit ourselves so we can deal with his likes rapidly.

Go and ask the former fishermen in Peterhead , or Cornwall or Fleetwood what their opinion is of the CFP.

Anyway the decision was taken in the referendum. We are leaving the EU. If remain had won the referendum by say 1 vote they would have said end of matter , no 2nd referendum.

Just read that, Not sure on your point, if its about fishing quotas allowing fish to reproduce .

The EU idea is infact putting British people out of work because of this EU quota system, and its Barmy if they think letting portugese and Spanish fishermen fish the same waters with massive trawlers is helping restock fish.

Just have a look at the Markets today to see what effect it's having, weakened the pound further and now talk of Interest rises to quell inflation and prop it up, as for the NHS I wouldn't spend another penny on it
Like the welfare state it was never designed to support the amount of people it now has to and not many of our own I might hasten to add.

Instead of people having £700 smartphones and sky T.V plus other things on credit they can't really afford and don't need, maybe they could pay a monthly NHS insurance payment out of their income at source but hang on

That means working folk will have to pay more yet again! so at the end of the day no matter what you do in this country now it wouldn't be enough because all resources are being stretched to breaking point as over population takes hold on this tiny island.

The future: No food, No water and maybe even civil war

Ade unfortunately I do not share your apocalyptic view of our tiny island apparently balanced at the precipice, teetering.
Nor the veiled racism.

It's not a question of just more investment for the NHS, it's the fact that it's currently being run to line shareholders pockets, not treat ill people, even for a price.

Over population? We can accommodate more people, however the infrastructure of all our services are severely depleted thanks to under funding and poor management by a succession of governments swapping ideals, not the amount of population, surely?

Fact... we need more people not less , because of our aging population , who ironically are the most xenophobic , if not racist, the whole Tory, blame the immigrants rather than the fat cats con is blatant , but alot of people ignore facts in this country because they are racist.

Oh for god sake. Ok, you're factually wrong in almost everything you have said there. Firstly, the single largest aspect of the benefit bill is the state pension and the various freebies given to pensioners over the years to buy their vote. The second largest is working tax credit. The clue is in the name. It goes to WORKERS. Ask yourself why that may be. It isn't because those families are profligate. It is because they aren't paid enough to keep up with the cost of living.

Secondly, only 15% of immigrants claim any benefit at all. Immigrants are net contributors to the state. Again, these are just facts that you won't find in the right wing gutter press as it doesn't suit their agenda. Oh, and just as a point of clarity, my profession requires me to have extensive benefit knowledge and I spend my days helping the very people you seem so willing to slander.

I voted to remain. I am still a remainer and I have no problem articulating that. I still believe that 52% British people (mostly people over a certain age) have set our country on a very dangerous path economically. Put simply, we haven't negotiated a trade deal for decades. They usually take around a decade. We will fall back onto WTO rules which are infinitely worse than the ones we currently enjoy as a member of the EU. All in the name of 'getting our sovereignty back' and 'stopping those immigrants'.

Of course, we are leaving. We can't go back. Sadly, the younger generations, who overwhelmingly voted to remain, will be the ones who actually have to live with the consequences. And for what? We need immigrants. Without them, the NHS would be screwed and arable farmers would have no one to pick their crops. And sovereignty? Well, I for one am very happy that membership of the EU has strengthened workers rights, environmental protections and also protects us all from the much lower food standards in the US. But hey ho, it is what it is. I look forward to our incompetent government obtaining a fabulous deal. And yes, I would far rather Keir Starmer was the one heading the negotiations. I rather think the former lawyer and head of the CPS would make a far better job of it than David Davis!
Some are dead and some are living. In my life, I've loved them all.

Anyone watch the Wife Swap Brexit Special programme last night? The Brexit couple came across very poorly IMO with some very twisted logic based mainly on xenophobia. 'My old high street is full of brown people, so we should leave the EU'. 'I was once in a hostel and it was mainly foreigners in there, so we should leave the EU' etc.

But 17.4 million is the largest vote ever in the UK so your hypothetical theory is irrelevant. We are leaving.

By the way , would you know the last year that the EU auditors' report was actually able to be signed due to the corrupt people who run it ?

Give it a rest.

The mild 'well it's not what we wanted and maybe we should look at it again if we get a really bad deal post-Brexit but we believe in democracy so will get on with it..' is absolutely nothing compared to what UKIP would have stirred up in the wake of a remain vote.

I voted to stay...but I have to respect and accept that the vote was to leave whether I like it or not.

No doubt had it been the other way, those who voted out would have been up in arms with their champion

If this forum was a village then we all know CC would be the village idiot, so his quips about not reading manifestos we can let fly.

Mair here, with his diatribe is embarrassing. Corbyn destabilising the country by doing too well at an election? That's some view of democracy you have there pal. Should he just have rallied round the 'supreme leader' for a strong right wing one-party state? Sounds familiar.

Over population leading to no food, no water and civil war? Get a grip man, it's embarrassing stuff.
