All this from a bloke who lives in one of the Biggest tax havens going?

Sorry Keith but I don't have the answers as to what any government will do? I've already set out above the journey myself, wife and kids have been through.
Again, Looking back at how we did it I really don't know but I do know the feeling of being on your own without help and there was sod all for us in the way of support but it certainly made me what I am today, Appreciate everything no matter how small, never take anyone or anything for granted, be thankful for what you have, be joyful is you have your health because that is worth more than any material thing.

55 in November, working 50 hours a week, caring for my daughters needs daily for 25 years, travel over to Blackburn twice a week to care for my wifes mother and her needs for the last 5 years.

It's called life, get through it the best way you can and survive, isn't that what most of us on low pay are doing?

Oldhamade, you sound like a great guy.
Your posts on here recently have been spot on IMO.
The reality is that we will never have a society that is fair and equal. Human nature always sees to that,
and in the system we have, some people are more competitive than others, more intelligent than others and will strive to better themselves.
That's life.
I do believe though that within our society, we have to help people who find themselves at a disadvantage, and help them to help themselves find their own way as positively as possible.

No greatness here mate, just a working family bloke who's lived through the 60's 70's 80's and 90's trying to explain that where we are today is not as bad as some would have you believe
I've experienced all of it and more, I think helping other people is paramount to neighbourhoods and that sense of community that I have to say I no longer see
When I was a kid you knew every single person at each house and the adjoining streets, it's all long gone!

As said maybe I was lucky in being shown at an early age that you couldn't just have everything handed to you on a plate, you have to save up son I was told, yes it did hurt at times when other kids had Action Man Scorpion tank from Edmondsons and you had a cheap Hong Kong thing off Morecambe market lol,

Right now, thank the Lord I can see the wisdom and face each day knowing the sacrifices I made, have stood me in good stead ultimately for the family I brought through it.

Well said.
I have been very fortunate in my life in that I have had some wonderful people who have helped me so much along life's pathway, often not appreciating them till years later.
I now have an incurable disease, but I don't feel angry or resentful about it. I would rather embrace it and be positive and accepting of it.
It will inevitably reduce my life expectancy, but many many people are far worse off than me,so no self-pity from me.
It actually makes me more appreciative of every day I live from now on, and in a strange way life is more enjoyable now.
One of the great joys of my life has been watching the Shrimps, on and off since 1967.
Maybe we could meet up at the Globe sometime Oldhamade.

What a brave man you are and no doubts we've passed each other be it at Christie or the Globe but it would be a real honour for me to meet up with you over a few pints (on me ofcourse) and watch the game,
I began watching Morecambe in the late 60's standing on the cinders, went to Wembley in 74 but also got to see Blackpool when Jimmy Armfield was playing as my step father was mad on them, then it was to Oldham when my own father took me over and to those games and then over to the 80's and watching Blackburn rovers home games when Simon Garner was playing as my wife (then girlfriend did her Saturday job)

Very confusing when my home town team arrived at Ewood as I'd supported both with equal enthusiasm lol lol

So, It's a massive YES from me and you can pick the game and let me know ;)

Thanks Oldhamade, will contact you again when the season begins.
Incidentally, that's why my user name is seasonsinthesun.
Terry Jacks was at number one in the UK charts on 27th April 1974, the date of our F.A. Trophy win over
Dartford at Wembley.
And the other reason is that every football season that comes around, we always hope that this one will be our season in the sun.
