Playing surface

Playing surface

Postby Christies Child » Thu Jul 06, 2017 4:16 pm

Clubs usually spend a bob or two on their playing surface during the close season. We all know that Jimbo expressed concern about the Globe playing surface on more than one occassion but hopefully despite the critical club finances that some money has been found to improve the pitch for the coming season.

afc FYLDE have put down a completely new playing surface for their inaugural season in the National League and I understand that Blackpool have done the same.

Anyone know how much work Chesh and his helpers have been able to do on our pitch with a limited budget that they may have had to operate in.... :?: :?: :?:

1800* x 2.5 x 2 x pi x 110 yds = 3,110.184 lbf x ± AA £
* approximately

I'm just guessing, mind

I'm glad to hear that they are using the experts from Heysham Golf Club to help with the pitch.

I know they did offer their services way back when we moved to the Globe.

P.S. This is how someone described our local golf clubs to me.

Heysham Golf Club - members are working class and know they're working class
Lancaster Golf Club - members are rich and successful and know they're rich and successful
Morecambe Golf Club - members are working class but think they're rich and successful

As a result, this is why he loathes Morecambe Golf Club. Found this fascinating.

Posh, who was that, As I have had almost exactly the same definition given to me a few years ago.
Apparently Morecambe is snobby, Heysham defo isn't and Lancaster isn't either!!

Noticed on the latest OWS video of pre season training that the running is being held on the Morecambe High School playing field rather than on our own training ground.

Is that because even at this stage there is a problem with Turners field.... :?: :?: :?:

If so it doesn't argue well for when the weather gets bad knowing how Turner's can be affected by the weather conditions.

Doesn't look as though there any many if any triallists down for pre season training but their absence from any video / photos could be on the insistance of Jimbo who doesn't want to alert other clubs to whom we are looking at in pre season training.

Personally I hope we are still in the hunt for proven centre backs and a dominant midfield general, both positions we need to fill as a priority in my opinion.

It's not drivel, just users banking lots of negative comments for their told-you-so messages in the months to come
