The great towel debate UPDATE and COSTINGS

Postby Christies Child » Tue Jul 18, 2017 10:53 pm

Spoke with a number of fans who like me are disappointed that the club is unable to produce beach towels. I'm certain there's the interest and could be a highly profitable addition for the club shop.

Think we will have to wait for a Commercial Manager to arrive, he/she might have some ideas

I would like to see MFC pyjamas in the club shop (well, Wayne Rooney wears his Everton ones!)
and a full pillow and duvet set.
What joy to wake up to every morning!!!

First of all you would need a sample towel, then get interested numbers(which imo would be low), get a cost and retail price, then ask everyone to pay upfront before an Order was placed.

If you're that desperate for one you can create your own here:

https://www.bagsoflove.co.uk/personalis ... owels.aspx

Their 3 for 2 offer would mean you'll be paying roughly £18.50 per towel.

Raised this topic in 2013 with another member on here . The member did some research and found a company that could make them with a minimum order of 100 . I don't believe we can't sell 100 towels, would buy 4 myself and am sure there is capacity to sell the rest !!

Maybe something that a small group of fans could get together and finance the project with each getting their money back from sales with the club getting the profit.

Is this a project for the new Trust to consider?

I'd certainly be prepared to consider backing the project if others would do likewise, but initial costs would determine if it goes ahead.

With a background in business, and time on your hands, why don't you see where you can get with your idea?

Not a criticism, just curious why you don't want to try and get your idea off the ground.

Re: The great towel debate UPDATE and COSTINGS

Just received costings from a Promotional Company for production of some Beach Towels. I'd be interested in some feedback from fellow SVers.

SIZE 140cm x 70cm

WOVEN ex VAT
Max of 2/3 colours

100 £12.98 each
250 £11.49 each
500 £10.45 each

PRINTED ex VAT
Full colour

100 £13.98 each
250 £12.49 each
500 £11.45 each

Material 450gsm / 100 % cotton

Lead times:

WOVEN 4 weeks
PRINTED 8 weeks

Artwork costs to be calculated depending on choice of production.

This quote is the first of a number that I'll obtain IF there is positve interest in this project.

Our East Lancashire 'friends' sell theirs for £19.99 including VAT which if we bought 100 would give our club a profit of circa £440 assuming we sold the lot :!:

I would buy one.

The next door neighbour hangs a Burnley FC towel out on the washing line so it seems like it could be a popular line.

The first 100 would be sold through Pre orders without a problem, sold as limited stock items at £20 each .....Gone :D

How many of the limited edition replica 1974 shirts did the club sell a few years back? I think people would snap these towels up. For once CC, a post worth reading!

As was said earlier this is an ideal project for the trust to get on board with thus ensuring the profits go straight into the war chest .

Why don't you engage with the Trust and find out; email shrimpstrust@gmail.com and put it on the agenda.... or bring it up at the Shrimps Trust launch night Thursday 27th July from 7pm at the Globe?

By the looks of your costings, you'd need to sell 78 @ £20 to break even - which would mean regular Shrimpsvoices contributors would have to buy at least 4 each. As others have suggested, perhaps try Facebook or other popular social media sites to see if there's a genuine level of interest in this that would support £1.5k cash being tied up in what could be slow moving stock.

I know a lot of people who do not come on here who would buy one or more . In fact I would say we could sell first 100 in a heart beat . I mean, come on even the Caccy fans sold theirs out before they even got to the shop !

Agree.

Sorry don't do or have any intention of doing Facebook.

It would be ideal if this project could be funded by the fans of our club so will probably go down the Trust route with other finance avenues explored.

HJowever need to get other prices first to compare.
