We said the same, Quinny elaborated that the rules had changed but with all the excitement didn't get to explain more, apparently the free kick was taken in the correct place but I have no idea why!!

funny how people see games differently.

I really liked our formation, our defence looked well organised! always said Kenyon as the makings of a better Defender!

but thought we lost it in central midfield, with Fleming and Wildig losing to many individual battles, and against better teams we'll play this season.

From an attacking point of view Thompson and Olivier were making good forward runs, with Wildig in the middle trying to pull strings but was unlucky not picking them out, but as the season goes on they'll get a better understand.

it's going to be a long season, if Kenyon is going to stay in defence permantly, then I hope we bring in a midfield ""Enforcer""before the window shuts if possible.

oh and 3 points at home, more of this please, I would like our ""Home Form"" to keep us up this season for a change.

Thought we deserved the win and I thought Olivier looked good. One sour note today was after about 10 minutes? And someone started singing Man United songs? And this lad took offence threating to fight? Stewards were called up to the top, does anyone know anything or hear anything?

people should shut up about Man United on match days, it's bad enough with the PA at H/T highlighting when Man United are getting beat, it's L2!

If an offside offence occurs, the referee awards an indirect free kick where the offence occurred, including if it is in the player’s own half of the field of play.

Strange game. At half time I'm thinking here we go again, our poor home form continues. I haven't attended any pre season matches so I was surprised to see Thompson on the wing. He struggled out there as he no longer has the pace to play that position. Kev had a shocker and Oliver was isolated. It just wasn't working, changes surely? No changes made at the break and we almost fell further behind shortly after half time. Against the run of play we equalised and then dominated the match. Thompson was effective when drifting inside and Oliver was winning every aerial battle. Fantastic comeback and a dream second debut for Thompson. Thought we defended well, Brough looks useful and Kenyon played brilliantly at centre back.

Now that's what I call entertainment.

Excellent second 45 despite referee doing his best to grab the headlines.

Was really pleased to see Baz throwing the ball out to our full backs who both have the ability to take on their opposite numbers and beat them for speed.

Oliver fully deserved his Mom performance.... He just gets better and better. And as for a certain Thomson.....welcome home son just keep doing what you keep doing.

Excellent and even JImbo was close to tears at the end showing how much it means to him

:D :D :D

Reason for my original post was I thought there might be some legitimacy to it. I guess that the free kick is given where the player plays (or tries to play) the ball.

Speaking of Thompson, I love the run his arched run he makes for his first goal. Plenty of inexperienced forwards would have run straight and stretched at it without making clean contact.

This is what makes football interesting; we all watch the same match, but can have different opinions on what we see in front of us.
If Winnard was "woeful at times" then I would say he was also solid and reliable at times. I saw him make several important interceptions and tackles in the first half when we were defending at the Omega end.
I thought Oliver played well, but was not man of the match for me; he caught the eye because he is a big physical presence up front, and it was a good header on for The Wembley Legend to score the winner.
My stand out players yesterday were Kenyon, superb at centre back, and his best position IMO and
Fleming - some of his twists and turns were awesome, passing was more consistent and he competed well also. He plays in a difficult area, the midfield, and is not always given the credit he deserves by some fans.
Also, Wildig did well, and was unlucky not to score, and Gary the Legend Thompson showed his experience and class with a calm composure when it mattered.
Yesterday was what it means to be a Morecambe fan.
Reminded me of a Christie Park comeback, of which there were many over the years, 1-0 down at half time, a Thompson equaliser, then Tommo again with a late late winner!
Happy Day.

I think it was a toss up between Oliver and Flemmo for MoM. But it was Rod Taylor's party making the award and I can see that he'd want to give it to the newcomer and boost his confidence.
And when Vadaine rose to help create the winner...? Decision made and fair enough.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

My first and last home game of the season but what a result!

Bought a Scouse mate who hadn't seen a live footy match for 14 years. He took some convincing to come but at the end was buzzing, cheering Thommo's goals and said it was proper grassroots footy and would definitely come again.

Well done lads!

As an aside: since the iFollow video didn't have commentary this time, we got to hear the audio from the pitch. I beg your pardon(s), I don't mean to be condescending, but I was impressed by the volume and passion from the crowd. Good show!
