What sort of crowd are we expecting for tomorrow nights game? Carlisle have a good away support with many coming from Cumbria but it is the checkatrade afterall. What is the interest like on our side. I am thinking of going myself.

Overall attendance must have been around 1150-1250?

Pretty much as expected at this stage of a competition that is not held in the highest regard. Also given only around 2200 watched us play a PL side in the league cup against Bournemouth last season....

And higher than some other matches, less than a thousand, who usually get far bigger crowds than us, which shows the dedication and support of the Shrimps' fans, many of whom came to support the club rather than the cup!

Most other clubs are boycotting the competition. The Supporters Trusts at Grimsby & Doncaster organised a fans match and urged supporters to attend that rather than their first team Checkatrade fixture for example.

For me, it is, has been and always will be the support of my club irrespective of league or competition.

My future son-in-law still supports his home town club of Scarboro and despite living and working in Preston has and still continues to go to as many games as he can despite loss of their ground and league status many years ago. The fact that they play in a league at level 4 (?) is of no consequence to him. It's loyalty to his club despite all that has gone before that makes him and others like him at clubs all over the UK who have seen better days true fans....in my opinion.

regarding missing games and supporting the club financially, I don't bother with season tickets anymore. I don't like being stuck in one spot.

i missed a lot of home games in the second part of last season with working, so i just made up for it by spending that money in the Club shop plus rejoining the Morecambe monthly draw, and that Fcom.


I'd encourage more to do this if you can't make games or just can't be arsed that way the club isn't missing out money wise, and plus it entitles you to an opinion as a paying customer and survival of MFC

I just find it unfortunate that our club doesn't seem to stand with the wider football community on this issue who are fighting against what could well be the thin end of the wedge when it comes to B Teams and the continued bullying tactics of the Premier League to enforce their will on our clubs.

Some clubs have been seeing record low crowds and drops of 80% or so from their usual attendances whilst our game against Carlisle was more or less our usual midweek attendance figure.

Anyway, this debate took place last season and we're just going over old ground so I'll leave it there. People are of course entitled to their own opinion on this and are free to do as they wish.
