Had to look at this twice thought it was a wind up... caused us no end of trouble when he played for Burton and Pompey

McGurk (28) is a former Northern Ireland Under-21 international who moves to the Globe Arena after being allowed to leave Cambridge United.

I just hope McGurk gets/stays fit. Great player whenever I've seen him - but very poor record in terms of injury.

Good signing but his record for goals has not been terrific at both Portsmouth & Cambridge. However it is a vicious circle as a descent goal poacher costs money which we don't have. Hopefully soon we may get new investment but can' t see it. Bit shocked we got Callum Lang when we have other youngsters bench warming.

Welcome to the Globe the pair of you.

Pleased that we've managed to bring in a couple of strikers BUT I have to echo Shrimpers concerns about injury and also BoroRedShrimp's observations about other youngsters bench warming.

Clubs loaning out players don't expect them to languish on the bench which then raises question marks about players such as Turner, Campbell and Deakin plus not foregetting our other loanee Osborne.

I would now expect some departures from our playing staff with Jordan, Yawson and Brownsword being loaned out to non league to gain valuable and regular game time.

It will be an interesting team selection tomorrow but would like to see McGurk partnering Oliver and Thommo up front but fear that one will miss out as playing 3 out and out front men is not (to date) our management teams way of setting up a team......genuinely hope I'm proved wrong :!: :!: :!:

Well it doesn't look as if he has played for Cambridge this season or even been on the bench so I cant imagine he will be anywhere near starting a game, so hopefully Oliver is fit to play on Saturday.

A great example of a player with great skill and experience at this level having the opportunity to kick-start their career. Whether he stays (like Ellison) or moves on (Miller, Devitt etc.) I hope he can regain his form this season and bag us some goals. We all know he can :D

We don't have m/any young central strikers bench-warming, though.

There's been plenty of players who have come to us after being injury prone and kicked on under Jim, Shaun Miller for example.

let's see what McGurk has got before writing him off.

I thought Reece Deakin played up front as well as a winger? Even so we should be giving game time to our young players to give them the chance to prove themselves, not putting them down the pecking order even more.

Exactly the point I am getting at that we don't see them develop enough in the first team.

Deakin was playing in the LoW a few months ago, he's probably not ready to be thrown into first team football just yet so sporadic appearances from the bench and full games in the reserves is probably the right place for him at the moment.

Sometimes though giving them the opportunity can sometimes spur them on. If we don't we just carry on as normal having the odd one coming through, then the rest of the young talent then getting released at the end of the season. A vicious circle I am afraid.

From his interview, Adam has been clearly frustrated over the last 12 months. He likes our game ethic and just wants to play... go on son !!
