In my defence, although it's still morning, the beer is only 4.2%. So I'm going light.

Been a pleasure as always, folks (officiating not withstanding). Afraid I'll miss next week; going on holiday. I imagine I'll be on the road at kick off but I'll have my scarf with me.

Jim shaking the official's hands. He's a better man than I. I'd be giving him a piece of my mind (and likely paying the consequences).

the sending off from where i was stood looked like Oliver's studs where facing the floor with just one leg stretched out going for the ball.

to my understanding, it's when your out if control with both legs off the floor with your studs showing its a straight red. if in doubt the Ref should have given a yellow, my eye sight ain't what it use to be but that's how it looked from the Berlin Wall.

but anyway credit where it's due, Stanley played well.

oh and Mark Hughes is a dickhead.

I bloody hate it when I switch and on MOTD and the post match interviews from the likes of Mark Hughes and Arsene Wenger are just passive aggressive comments of disappointment about how poor the ref was and how he basically stopped them from winning. I think it's very rare when a referee is so bad he really heavily effects the game outcome.

Today however, was one of those games. Stanley were definitely the better team in the first half and our frontline didn't seem to be gelling and we were getting players clustered in bad parts of the pitch and leaving gaps down the middle. Second half, it looked like Jim had given them a lift and the team were settling much better and looking really threatening. That shocking red card killed it. One footed, studs down and won the ball! The only thing wrong I thought was it was a tad forceful, but that's essentially inevitable from a bloke the size of Oliver. Then that bloody penalty appeal he waved away on McGowan. I will never know how that was not awarded. That coupled with the ignoring of all the climbing on our CBs and the non stop niggly fouls on our forward players that when committed on Stanley players seemed to be given every time, it was a complete utter joke. Truly disgraceful refereeing and it ruined the game.

Well all in all, that was a pretty typical game against Accrington!

The red card was very harsh. One footed challenge which won the ball. Every other marginal decision went Accringtons way. Sadly I think we need to learn from these refereeing decisions and be smarter. Accrington 'managed the game'/cheated (delete depending on whether you're an Accy fan or Morecambe fan) very well, and we need to learn from that.

As for our performance, there was some good attacking play and an equal amount of suspect defending. We would benefit from picking our best back line and allowing them to gel.

Thommo my man of the match. Worked hard and showed some of that pace of old. Oliver had a strong game up to his sending off but our attackers' understanding of each other wasn't there. Again, more time needed for players to gel. AJ made a few goods runs. Muller I thought looked clumsy in midfield and perhaps better suited to centre back. Decent debut for McGurk.

Certainly not boring but a real shame to lose in that manner. Unlucky Jim.

I've got to say I've seen the highlights on Sky and it definitely looked like a red card to me. Oliver is lunging, off the ground, yes he gets the ball, but it's a textbook dangerous challenge. The ref had a poor game and definitely missed a few clear penalty shouts for us, but I think he's got the red card spot on. I'd be surprised if it got rescinded.

The second goal isn't shown in the highlights to see whether it was offside or not sadly, maybe the extended highlights will show a longer clip.

Deluded. If that's a red, then just cancel the sport. The reaction of the Stanley players didn't help, they ran over like it was 2 footed, pathetic.

He's off the ground, over the ball, lunging forcefully with a straight leg. I can see him get away with it on some days with some refs for getting the ball, but it's a red card for me.

OK but Olivier if you look closely his stoods are going away in another direction from the player who's behind Oliviers leg.

I could understand if it was a 50/50 but it was more a 70/30 in Oliviers favour
