I know you shouldn’t read too much into statistics and I usually take them with a massive pinch of salt. But in the past three games we’ve upped our possession from 45% (Cambridge and Accy) to 49% against Notts.
We’ve also reduced the gap between the opposition’s attempts on target and our own (Cambridge 5, Us 1; Accy 10, Us 1; Notts 6, Us 3).
And we’ve upped our attempts on target from one in each of those first two games to three (still not a big deal and nowhere near enough... but at least some progress).
I also believe there’s been a general overall improvement, since half time in the Accy game, in the understandings between players in various sections of the team.
I’ve gone from (post Cambridge) thinking it’d be a real task to find two worse teams in our division, to a kind of ‘I think it’ll come..’ mentality.
We need lots of improvement and we haven’t been good in any of those games, don't get me wrong – but I have more hope now than I did a fortnight ago. Just my opinion.
Osbourne has shown some promise and I really like the look of Lang and agree he’s worth a start soon, somehow – maybe in a 4-4-2 with Thommo up front. He looks like a quicker Cole Stockton to me.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!
