It is not for me to question the unquestionable but why didn't Jim change things once he noticed Tisdale had done a number on him and prevent Exeter from pulling our pants down time and again?

To be fair losing Barry in the first minute meant that one sub had already been used and after their first goal the defence seemed to lose confidence. I feel that might not have been the case if Barry had been there. The first two goals were really down to poor defending. Pulling one back was great and gave hope until the killer just before halftime. By then we were 3-1 down and I was expecting another substitution at that stage but as it was we ran out of subs when the last sub was injured. I agree that by then it was too late anyway.

Agreed about Baz. He does organise and instruct the back line as well as being a superb shot-stopper.

Jim says he got it wrong himself and was caught out by Exeter's tactics on the day. To be fair, he doesn't really use Baz as an excuse.

the back four was the same as what played and kept out another inform side Luton this week, so losing Baz so early on was obviously the big difference in the scoreline.

I expect Luton and Exeter to be there abouts.

Listening to Jim's interview, it sounds like the lads didn't do any training between Tuesday and Saturday's matches. If I hear rightly, he says he gave them Wednesday and Thursday off. Then it took longer than expected to drive down to Exeter on Friday. If they didn't do any training, then it kinds of explains the poor performance.

a lot is too much blamed on training or not training in football.

I would like to point out Wild Card Denmark and underdogs in Euro92 won the tournament with no preparation or training prior to turning up at the last minute, and went on Schooling former champions Holland and World Champions Germany!

and when asked what's the secret, Janson replied we'd all just had a good rest and went out and played for fun!
