According to the official website, last season, the attendance at Christie Park for the 2-1 home win for the Shrimps, was 4,761. This season, bearing in mind attendances are at least 500 down per game, the most we can expect I reckon is around the 4000 mark if we're lucky. That's 2000 less than capacity.

There was no trouble inside the ground last season as far as I remember, and I expect that there were many Bradford fans in home areas of the ground. There had to be given the attendance, and only 1200 "official" away supporters. That's what happens when an away allocation can't meet demand. The big difference is that the ones that are wear no colours and keep schtum whilst they're in there. I have no problem with that, and I don't think the club do either. It's a sort of unwritten understanding, if you will. Not something they'll advertise, but it's there all the same. I daresay that's what the BCFC kids on here were trying to say in their own little way, but didn't have the wherewithall. (or should that be Wetherall?)

There's no need to give up a larger home terrace, because even if we only had 100 in there, it's still the home end. Should a large proportion of partizan Bradford fans gather and suddenly appear in the North Stand and claim their allegience (which I don't think happened last season), then the appropriate measures will be brought into place I'm sure. I can only imagine that this will mean their expulsion. They know that, and so hence the reason they keep their traps shut.

I know a few Bradford City fans and their view (which may not be the views of the majority) is that the three teams they hate  sorry a bit strong, dislike the most are:
Leeds United
Bradford Park Avenue
Morecambe

Complete and utter rubbish....!!

1.Leeds United

2. Huddersfield Town

3. Leeds & Huddersfield

As for Morecambe, i for one am bouyed by Morecambe's recent successes in gaining league status, and doing well last year....like every club, including Bradford you have your fair share of muppet's that talk a good talk on a message board but nothing more.

Im suprised by the arguments that take place on here between Morecambe and BCFC fan's, Morecambe is supposed to be Bradford by the sea...!! You'd think we would get on lol....

In all fairness most BCFC fans are loyal to the end, and will defend the cause no matter what, and where ever you have a large following your always going to get idiots who frequent message boards proclaiming to know everything.....sign of the times i guess.

Im really looking forward to the game at Christie Park, not so sure about the North Stand being given to us, although i gotta say if we are there or there abouts, the crowd will definately be swelled in every area of the ground, back in 86, we went to Hull and so many fans turned up the police made them swap ends...!! footage on you tube for those interested...!

Anyway with performances like we had against Barnet, we wont be anywhere near....and next year i'll have another home game to travel to......at Christie Park....;-)

Cracking result at Aldershot..;-)

The truth is its value for money.....well its ridiculously cheap...!!

For this season's, season ticket i paid £138.00, because i signed up for another before Christmas.....i have next seasons for the same price...£138.00........which just might be for league 1 football..!!

Even now people have the option of purchasing up to the end of march for a very reasonable price of £175.00....after end of March it goes to full price which is still only £250.00

Under 11s, Free....!!

At the dearest price its still only just over £10.00 to watch a game.

I used to work for your vice chairman Graham Hodgson, and had many discussions about what Bradford did, and asked why Morecambe have never considered something along the same lines....you could offer discounted for renewals, then for the first 2,000 to purchase after the renewals have been sorted do another discounted rate, make it value for money and people will pay it.

With the country as it is there is alot to be said about the cost of watching football....Morecambe has a good catchment area and should be able to pull more than an average of just 1200 home fans per game.

Surely its better to have more coming to watch paying less than the same old paying the same prices..???

I agree with you actually, and I always think that more people through the gate at a lower price will, ultimately mean better atmosphere, better performances, and more money into the club via gate receipts, catering and merchandise.

However, Graham Hodgson is the multi millionaire and we're not (I assume you're not) so I suppose you might say he knows best!

Maybe he does know best, but with respect, the idea is perfect!

@mcfc, we charge adults £20 pr season as a one-off charge and they get £5 off for 6 games of their choice, so your'e paying £20 and effectively saving £30!

That scheme has worked well since the move from Maine Road.

With the future generation of football supporters, we allow u-11's in for £5... as long as they join the relevant scheme promoted within the club, again this has worked successfully.

It is a worthwhile idea and certainly worth thinking about, at least!

No offense BCFC Morecambe.....but why would he listen?

Aside from the fact that he is clearly a very astute and successful businessman, the strategy Bradford currently employ does not appear to have elevated them out of this league yet. You appear to offer advice based along the lines of what BCFC are doing. Your biased view on everything Bradford comes to the fore and you hold the club up in gargantuan praise for the way they operate. Yes you get 12,000 to come and watch you, but that's a pin prick in Bradford's population. I don't think a similar scheme of short-selling season tickets in the hope to attract more fans would work at Morecambe, we already offer the cheapest tickets in the FL. Our fanbase will increase naturally over time, as we gain a history and pedigree like Bradford of being a FL club.

Lets not beat around the bush, BCFC are an absolute shambles. The mere fact that they currently play in the bottom rung of the Football League is an absolute embarrassment for the club and city. To compare a city and club the size of Bradford and their history of being a FL team to Morecambe is a joke, but the funny part of the joke is the fact that the clubs currently are comparable; on the pitch at least. So why would we listen to anything Bradford say or are doing? Whilst the marketing of our club often leaves a lot to be desired, there are countless other clubs I would rather we replicate over Bradford. Not only because there model and circumstances would be a closer fit to the limitations at Morecambe FC, but because I don't view Bradford as a success at all.

I think that's a bit harsh Red. Although the thread possibly started in a certain vein, the last post was really a suggestion about Morecambe getting more people through the gates and not really suggesting that it made Bradford a complete success. That's how I read it and responded anyway. I do think he had a point there and I agreed so I'm going to stick up for him because I don't think that particular point was trying to compare us to Bradford particularly, merely suggesting ways in which we could improve our attendances, which, at the moment, are pretty poor. Would we go into League 1 if we had 6,000 sell out games each week? Who knows? It's by no means certain, and I don't think BCFC was suggesting in that particular point, that it was a guarantee, either for us or for Bradford.

Perhaps I was being overly harsh, but the way I read it (along with most of BCFC fans messages on here) is "this is what Bradford do, why don't you do it". Perhaps a sign of my adolescence, I hate being told what to do. Clearly the board have been very successful thus far; I don't think they need that much advice from anybody.

If you gave away free season tickets I don't think we'd sell out, a sad but harsh truth. If we sold season tickets at say £150 how many people do you think would realistically buy them? We may attract some floaters but I don't think we'd attract enough fans to compensate for money we lose off everyone elses ticket reduction. I'm only guessing, but so is everybody else. How many season ticket holdes do we currently have?

The big difference is that Bradford's scheme is there to try and tempt back some of the 25,000+ fans who used to turn up to watch them on a regular basis within the past 10 years or so. These are proven Bradford fans who may have been put off by the prospect of watching lower standard football or the cost of watching lower standard football.

Even with these incredibly cheap tickets there are still 10,000 fans that watched them in the Premier League who still don't want to turn up and watch them.

With Morecambe we are currently enjoying the best period in the clubs entire history yet only about another 200 or so have been attracted to turn up and watch us since the Conference days.

Cutting ticket prices in half in an attempt to attract 1500 NEW fans (a number that would be needed to avoid losing money on the scheme) is an entirely different prospect to cutting prices in an attempt to attract back OLD fans which Bradford are doing.

I honestly think the cut in ticket prices would see the club lose money as the extra number of fans coming through the gates wouldn't be enough to reach the same amount of income levels that we are getting currently.

Feel free. What's the classification for cannabis this week?

It is my (entirely un-evidenced) opinion that a 14 year old would be more likely to cause themselves serious health problems by taking cannabis than they would by getting rat-arsed where as an adult would do more damage to their health by regular alcohol abuse than cannabis abuse. Psychosis due to teenage cannabis use is well documented, sadly this usually becomes a life time mental health problem.

I've never taken cannabis but don't care if others do. In general terms, I would say it should be legalised and taxed.

No offence taken, given the amount of unmpties you guys have had to endure on here im not suprised at your response. But the truth is i was never comparing you to Bradford, or even claiming that we are a success, yes the scheme has worked for us but given the catchment area we have i guess it was a no lose situation for our club.

What i was getting at is the fact that you gained league status for the first time in your history, do well in your first year, and the 2nd year the crowds dip..? I was suggesting the marketting department at MFC would do well to talk to other clubs, not just Bradford about ways of getting people through the turnstiles.

Fair enough knock Bradford for the season ticket scheme, but other's are already following in our footsteps and doing similar promotions, Port Vale, Brentford, and Huddersfield Town to name but a few.

Living in Heysham, I would love to see the club continue to grow and i am sure it will the teams efforts over the last few years deserve a bigger crowd at home games, and you do have the catchment area to work with.

When i leave Heysham each week, I see a number of car's with scarf's of different clubs heading for the motorway, but see nothing in the press locally, or incentive wise to try and get these people to watch MFC.

Rant Over..!!

what's your thoughts on Darlo and Admin, does this make the play-offs even harder for yourselves..Having Darlo to contend with aswell..?
