Mmmmmmm......I'm conflicted. I've admitted olto Rod that I'm still feeling a little negative over the football, but I really want us to win. Don't see it though.

Morecambe 0-2 Monkey Hangers

Mrs A's more positive. 1-0 home win for her.

Team selection will be important and will depend if our loanee clubs have given permission for them to part of the match day squad.

Very tough gamme v a team ousted from the FL last season, so will be out to prove a point.

I'd like a win of any sort even at the expense of entertainment. :o

I would always take a win in any match at the expense of entertainment. If we can win and entertain then so much the better.
It is always better to win the worst ever cup final 1-0 than to lose the best ever cup final 5-4

I can't see much changing on the pitch so going with a 0-1 loss

Mrs Sak thinks we'll score and lose 1-3 :(

Travelling back up from Nuneaton this morning for the match. Hoping that the M6 is kind to me.

Mighty Morecambe FC 3- 1 Hartlepool United FC

Loud and proud from the first minute till the last. Let's roar the lads on to victory and make the Globe Arena bounce.

Come on you Shrimps.

Good luck in round 2 im not sure you will get a much easier game this decade but what can you do apart from win it?Im the first to admit we are one dreadful team, how on earth we have only lost 1 in 13 in the conference is anyones guess. Its a shame the people of morecambe dont wake up to the fact theirs a football league team in their town to support.

we've a lot of people in Morecambe who like football, but they'd rather support sky sports and the premier league, it's only over an hours drive you've got the big Manchester Merseyside clubs .

but anyway, we might have done you a favour, sometimes teams can get side tracked in cup competitions and lose focus on promotion, so good luck!

Its the same up here but not in anyway to the same extent. Its sad that people would go an hour away when they have their home town club on their doorstep. I was shocked how empty the ground was today, depressing that a really good club on their doorstep gets overlooked.

There are a few other issues at play in Morecambe.

1. There are those who fell out with the club over the ground move and simply never got over it. Many of them also claim the style of football puts them off too, but that must surely be seen through rose tinted glasses because we were bloody awful at Christie Park over many season, even if we were doing well when we left.

2. The 'non-league' mentality; lots of people still see us as a non-league team because that was our history.

3. Morecambe is a largely migrant town, with people moving there to retire etc. Family routes are often not Morecambe for more than about three generations, so often people support clubs from well outside the area. For example, there's an incredible amount of Leeds fans in the town, who became fans due to older relatives. Blackburn, despite only being one league above us & Preston both have significant followings in the town, for historic/generational reasons.

And then the aforementioned Sky Premiership fans.

An uphill slog unfortunately. Perhaps a good cup run will spark some imagination? Hope so!
