And it's all gone quiet over there...

And it's all gone quiet over there...

A fortnight ago social media lit up with the news that G50 had received an offer for the club. This was followed by some hastily-issued press releases (and a bit of a breakdown in communication) resulting in a mini fallout between the board and the owners.

A brief state of panic ensued (particularly around wages being paid and the threat of administration) before reassurances that the board were meeting with the owners to discuss this (and potentially another) offer. A press release was then issued on 1st Nov stating that everyone was working for the best of the club.

Then, silence...

I appreciate everything that all parties are doing and I appreciate that any 'new owner' talks need to be confidential. However, the lack of communication with fans has long been a frustration. You can't just chuck that grenade (no matter who chucked it) and then hope that it fizzles out.

There are so many questions we all have, but we'd appreciate something. Anything! The silence is deafening.
HOWAY THE SHRIMPS!!!!!

On topic(ish) and proud!

I can't agree with you there. As you say, the board or anyone else cannot release detail of ongoing talks. They seem to be damned if they don't release anything and damned if they do. Releasing even the names of potential buyers could jeopardise the whole thing, so what do you want them to say. Everything is going along nicely at present? That sort of statement is then ridiculed on here as not being worth the paper it's written on.

There are members of the board who most of us trust to do the best for the club so we just have to be patient.

Exactly.

Rod Taylor has kept us informed of all the info that he is able to make public, but that would appear to not be enough for some people.

I'm confident that when negotiations are complete or there is further info available that Rod will let us all know.

Just be thankful that we are not controlled by the likes of the Oystons at Blackpool. We really would have something to complain about then.

The club, a Ltd company, are under no obligation whatsoever to tell us anything. Anything they do say is a bonus.

Rumours that Oyston has put the club up for sale. Wouldn't make any difference if we had the Oystons in charge we are in the same boat if not worse. I would rather be in their position in league one rather than were we are at present.

Which of course is true. But, that kind of attitude is exactly why we've lost several hundred regular supporters over the past decade. For the club to be successful and have a future, it needs to properly engage with its supporters. Yes, in the middle of takeover negotiations, there has to be an embargo of what is being reported. But I think a lot of the frustration is several years of no information and just expecting supporters to be cash cows, rather than just the last few weeks.

unfortunately the directors that do care about the club are not in a position to read Abdullahs mind...and the Burnards at the end of the day ..are just his mouthpieces, any new owner will be selected by Abdullah and will be based on whatever the best deal on offer for him...
