FA Cup gates down

FA Cup gates down

Postby Christies Child » Fri Nov 17, 2017 5:25 pm

In general FA Cup First round ties saw a fall in gates compared with the home teams regular EFL Fixtures.

As an example Accy gated only 1166 for their First Round replay with 219 of that gate from Guisley.

However we didn't do much better for our home tie v Hartlepool.

Begs the question if the FA Cup has lost some of its sparkle particularly in the earlier rounds.

'Gated,' stands alongside 'podiuming' in our rich and colourful language. The use of such terms embiggens us all :D

Bet if you do the same comparison for non-league teams at home, you'll see the opposite to be true. That's the 'sparkle' of the FA Cup. If we draw Everton at home in the Third Round, you might see a gate increase!

So how did that work out then?
