Our club is failing

Less than a thousand through the gate , no match or ball sponsors, nobody corporate eating (Again) empty boxes all that and won't even mention what's going on on the pitch . To say the club is nosediving is an understatement :(

Time for Lancaster and Morecambe to create one club - Morecambe have decent ground, get the Lancaster side of the City engaged. Could play two teams from the ground. Not popular i know but not sure what else will work

I'm not sure why tonight's attendance was so low, won our last three home matches and unbeaten in four. I can only assume those who stayed away are saving their money for trips to Carlisle and/or Shrewsbury.

Home attendances for the last 3 were around 1000-1100. So, a hundred or two less for an evening match (far fewer kids due to school, people working, etc) is about right.

What's more worrying is the hospitality. It was supposed to be the club's saviour, yet must be making a whopping loss on match days as there's so few having meals etc. It's been really bad all season. Something's gone wrong as it used to be busy most matches. I'm sure it would make financial sense to close it and save the wages if they can't turn it around and get it busy again soon.

The weather, and everyone knows the run won't last we might be lucky and win a couple but then we still keep playing the same style of football and we will loose the next couple. You need to start winning regularly at home before people will notice and come back.

I believe our dull, negative football has driven people away in their droves. The height of our ambition seems to be to achieve a 0-0 scoreline. We need to adopt a more aggressive style at home and start winning games but to repeat a question I asked weeks ago where are the goals going to come from? Kevin will contribute a few, McGurk will get a few, Vadaine Oliver will get a couple but we have no goalscorer that will hit 15 or anywhere near that in the season. Our reliance in past seasons on two weaker teams than us is questionable this season and unless we show drastic improvement and take a more positive approach to games, Mr. Bentley will become the first Morecambe manager in the history of our club to take us to relegation.

It is about time that the club sale was sorted out and then we may have a board and club with a sense of direction. At the moment it just looks like a rudderless ship sailing down the river towards Nigara Falls.

We know Rod Taylor reads Shrimps Voices so lets hope he takes on board all the comments made and if its possible perhaps he can make a statement about how things are looking with regard to the sale of the club.

Amen to that. The one person who this does not apply to is the manager.

Rod has been holding the whole thing together while the struggle for ownership/leadership saga goes on.

In my opinion he or other minor shareholders, have no control over who and when buys the Club from the 82% shareholder. The 'Chairman' should be the person announcing any statements, unfortunately I don't think we really have one at the moment.

If there is something on the table then you wouldn't expect an announcement before it is all signed, delivered and PAID for!

We have already been there and done that and been made to look %%&$$@@!

Totally agree Marky. Business negotiations are being, and will continue to be, conducted in private, and we as fans can expect no information until they are pretty much concluded, unless the buyer chooses to share, but that might indicate a Cala type self-publicist, which is the last thing we want. Do you really want statements from Rod Taylor when all he can say is 'negotiations are ongoing but I can't at this stage release any details'? The only issues we can talk about are those on the field, which are surely topic enough for the time being.

Was going to title it Dying but I thought it was a bit harsh but maybe not . I think everyone is just fed up with the constant upheaval and uncertainty .

Why does it have to be Rod. Indeed, why is it always Rod?
We have a full board of directors, a chairman, an owner/agent and his son who are now directors.
For all we know (and all we're told) the only person who seems to give a damn about this club is Rod. I feel for him, I really do. He's clearly put his heart and soul into doing his very best by our club whilst everyone else hides away in the shadows.
It would be nice to see some of the others have the balls to stick their heads above the parapet like Rod has done, engage with fans and listen to the frustrations and criticism (that is aimed at the club as a whole, rather than the person willing to actually speak to supporters!)

Thing is its not really Rod's job or the other directors to run the club or indeed manage public relations. He's taken in upon himself I guess as we have been pretty rudderless for quite some time. Our chairman PMG? When was the last time we heard from him. Abdul the money man, ditto. Burnard, who knows what the hell his role is, but appears to be more of a liability than an asset to the club.

Perhaps the biggest mistake PMG made was to publically put the club up for sale. In hindsight it appears to have been an act of desperation and along with the whole Lemos saga leading to players not being paid etc has now put us in the position now where few companies will do business with us. The general public is also fed-up and voting with their feet, not helped too of course by the shocking home form that never seems to improve.

Right now we are heading for the rocks and bar a miracle will be back in the non-league and needing to rebuild the club from top to bottom. With this in mind, its now time for every fan to sign up for the Shrimps Trust and in the meantime get down to the Globe and get behind the lads.

I disagree reguarding Rod being the only one that cares about the club. A lot of work went on behind the scenes to keep our club going last season so it's a bit disrespectful for the other board members. Can we do things better? yes

Running the company (club) is exactly the job of the Board of Directors. Owners "own" it and appoint "directors" to run it on their behalf.

So why is it we only ever hear from Rod? Other directors are forum members, are they gagged by clauses in their directorships?

when there is something tangible to announce , I am sure it will be, I believe there was "activity", at the club today, according to a few sources.

My point is Rod is not the 'captain of the ship' so to speak, despite his best efforts to get involved. Like you say, as a director he can assist with the running of club, however it is not his job to run the club by himself.

Instead we have an official chairman (PMG) who (probably) can't or (possibly) won't take charge, a proxy owner (Burnard) with questionable motives or skill to do the job and a real absentee owner (Abdul) who is apparently on military service halfway around the world.

Many fans are holding out for a local knight is shining armour to come and rescue the club, but realistically if that person existed, they would be in charge right now. For me the only solution right now would involve some form of fans ownership, however with the size of our current fanbase that may inevitably mean playing further down the football pyramid.

Tough times to be a Shrimp. :(

Fan ownership would be laughable at our club. We'd be sacking the manager every 2 weeks if you listen to some of the football experts on here.
