World Cup draw....

World Cup draw....

Postby Freez » Fri Dec 01, 2017 2:44 pm

This appeared on the BBC Sport live feed....
Aparat Zjarrfikes: Instead of a draw just have a room with 8 tables of 4, all the coaches of the 32 teams line up and race to a chair. Anyone not sitting after 1 minute loses their World Cup spot. Whoever you end up with is your group. Would make fantastic TV!

We'd still end up in the table of death!! :D

Are we really so bothered?
After the Euros and losing to Iceland, whichever group we are in will be a Group of Death.
It would be far more interesting to have a League Two standard World Cup!!
Or just play Subbuteo.

Doom and Gloom,

We don't stand a chance, and Southgate knows it.
BUT he appears to have sacked off the has beens, Sturridge, Jack Wheelchair, Walcott, Oxlade-Pissflap and Welbeck, who have all had their go and fucked it up.

For me, go with youth and he is doing.
Start with Pickford/Butland
Back three ideally Stones, McGuire, Cahill with Gomez and Keane as cover,
Wide men flyers Walker,Trippier, Rose and Bertrand, pick two
Centre mid Dier holding, Loftus Cheek, Winks, Lallana if fit,
Up top, Alli, Kane, Vardy, Rashford and either Lingard or Abraham, so add hart as third keeper, DONE
And thats off the top of my head.
Average age is twelve but fuck it, enjoy it lads, go out and play it on the deck, get forward and surprise us.

What have we got to Lose?
Expectation is rock bottom, as it was before Italia 90????

MMMM, someone has been busy,

I'm hoping for England to get one of positions B2, D3, G3, G4. That way all matches will be evenings and weekends!

Steve Dunsby, Birmingham.

Volgograd aka Stalingrad , outstanding place to visit well worth the trip , kind of museums that make you stop and take a deep breath
Kaliningrad never been but on bucket list - travel maybe more tricky, it’s essentially an enclave , that used to be koninsberg before WW2

Nizhney Novgorod rich history , techno industrial complex - also worth a trip but won’t be hanging around there for long

Transport is doable but the ticketing looks a bit of a nightmare I’ll get stuck into it next week - if anyone’s planning to go next year drop me a mail to compare notes if you like !
Cheers

I think it’s trendy to bash the England team. I personally do not rate Southgate but I would delighted if he proved me wrong. What I do think is sad is the totally weighted and over compilated draw. None of groups excite me. Shame really it’s killing all major tournaments for me. Champs league, uefa cup, euros, wc! Why don’t they just make it an 16 team World Cup and fifa can choose the teams...that’s effectively what they have done.

Looks a fairly easy group on paper, but we all know England will struggle to get out of it.

It's a great indication of my utter lack of interest in Premiership football that apart from Kane, Vardy & Hart, I'd struggle to tell you what teams those players play for (although I've heard of a bloke called Rose, but his form has been questionable this season after a great 2016/17)

That said, Zippy's work for the Russian Tourist Board does make me a little more interested.

If it's on & I'm home I'll watch it, but gone are the days of arranging my life around England games.

Shouldn't this be 'O/T'? It's a simple concept and all that...
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?
