Argyle fan on mission to find the best witty and funny nicknames for players for all clubs, past and present

Also any candidates for beast tank Animal Trigger and Psycho as all clubs seem to have at least one...

Cheers

Surely someone must have an amusing/witty nickname or perhaps nom-de-plume/je ne sais quoi/billy dont be a hero,
for our illustrious player commentator?

So how did that work out then?

We tend to keep it simple and take a players name or part of it and add a 'y' or an 'o' e.g. .....

Drummond -Drummy
Cain -Cainy
Coleman -Coley
Thompson -Thommo
Jim Bentley - Jimbo
Twiss --Twissy
Jackson --Jacko

Loads of others like that probably.

Although to jog memories, (as I can't remember exactly)
Arnold Timmins - Baby faced assassin ?
Yard dog --Andy Grimshaw
???? --Chris Blackburn
???? -- sure we had one for Steve Holden
???? --didn't we have one for Camden who used to play for Marine ?

I remember Les Rigby calling the little winger we had , Nigel ? , "a little cretin". Don't think it was a nickname though !

Off thread title slightly, but two of my favourite nicknames are 'Tiny Chopper' for Giant Axe and
'Cheatenage' for Westleys Stevenage.

A Scouseport fan/friend and sometime member of this board in the Conference days came up with that one!!

When naming the bar at the globe, the club asked for suggestion s and a few of us submitted "Stabby's", but as he was still in post, it wasn't taken up, shame!!

How's about ex Everton and Morecambe striker Stuart Barlowe. 'Jigsaw'. Used to go to pieces in the box.
