Stand Rename

So will it be called Heart or Global,
or none of the above?

Disappointingly, this sounds like The Bay will lose its local identity...

However, it does say "Current Government and Ofcom rules state at least seven hours a day of programmes (including breakfast) for these stations must originate from Lancashire or Cumbria, preventing the sharing of peak-time programmes with Heart North West or Smooth North West." so let's hope that remains the case!

I hope that the directors are talking to Heart/Global about stadium naming rights. It's an excellent opportunity as they'll be wanting to market their "brand" throughout the area to keep as many Bay listeners as possible. Renaming the Globe arena to the Heart FM Arena would be great for them for brand awareness.

If the stadium (not arena) naming situation is anything to go by, it'll stay the same as it is now!

There is already a heart northwest so will it be the same as that and just another frequency or will it be different?

It'll probably be the same but with local breakfast and drivetime variations. Be nice if it can be called Heart: The Bay...

Will it be called anything at all. Will the new radio station want to get involved at all, or can we quickly get a fresh sponsor.

We now have the Globe Arena, Bay Radio Stand and the Omega Stand all up for renewal? Not to mention the Berlin Wall :(

Wasn't the sponsorship of the North Terrace won in a Gala Draw? I wouldn't be happy if I had won the draw and yet my companies name is no where to be seen.

Has it not been renamed and signed?

Basically, we have the stadium and three sides of the ground now up for sponsorship, unless PMG has some sort of legal cover for his name on the main stand.

We got the answer today.

The "Heart stand" replaced the "Bay Radio stand".

It looks much better without those radio aerials sticking up !

Let's hope we got serious money for this sponsorship.

Who know's , the club doesn't shout about anything from the rooftops but somebody has gone to quite a bit of expense to put all that new facia and signage up.

Heart have re-branded everything to do with The Bay, to basically remove all traces. They won't want any reminders of the old station. For a company like Heart, a few new boards and hire of a cherry picker is small change within the rebranding budget.

I'd be surprised if they've paid the club for sponsorship. If The Bay had paid for the season, then Heart will have bought that when they bought the radio station.

Let's hope that Heart continue when the previous sponsorship deal ends, even better would be a bigger sponsorship deal, maybe even "Heart Arena"?

We need the main stand renaming as soon as possible.

You would hope the club will pull out all the stops for that one and it has potential to work well for Heart too. The parent group is "Global" (www.global.com) who also own Classic FM & other stations. It surely can't take too much imagination to sell the ground & both stands? From 'Globe Arena' to 'Global Arena', with The Heart Stand at one end and the Classic FM Stand at the other. Morecambe may only be small in terms of club size, but as long as we stay in League Two for next season, they'd get a lot of national coverage for relatively small outlay, and with the ground almost being 'on-brand' already...

I'd assumed it had already run out. The director resigned Christmas 16 at the height of the Diego fiasco, and was quoted at that time in his resignation announcement as saying he'd continue his sponsorship to the end of that season. Presumably, if no one else has sponsored it, they'll leave the signage as it is rather than removing it and having none (in the say way the Globe is still called that despite no sponsorship for several years). Cheaper to leave alone rather than incur costs of rebranding for nothing.
