O/T Decorating advice please

O/T Decorating advice please

Postby Christies Child » Sun Feb 11, 2018 5:16 pm

Is it possible to emulsion over a washable bedroom wallpaper :?:

I'm getting different opinions from our friends at Google :?

Some say it is; some say it isn't; others suggest using a Multi Purpose Primer before applying at least 3 coats of emulsion.

Advice from the professionals would be welcome.... :)

Not a professional but I would say yes.

I have emulsioned over tiles and shiny wallpaper so that's my answer.

If you get some PVA glue, add the same amount of water and thoroughly mix them together, painting this onto the wallpaper and letting it dry in my experience makes a perfect base for a coat of emulsion...

Well I wouldn't, all that will do us make the Wallpaper Bubble like when Wetting it when your just about to Strip Wallpaper.

Just put the Emulsion straight onto the paper, it will take at least 2 coats to drown the Pattern, Vinyl Matt covers better than Vinyl Silk, Matt as more body where as Silk is more transparent and takes more coats to cover.

That's what id do. ;)

Could you do each wall using a different recommended technique, then report back as to which worked best, that would be useful! :D

So how did that work out then?

Better still if you did as Keith suggests and then go over to his place and do the work for him ;)
How many rooms would you like doing Keith?
