If you believe the forecast we could be in for some snow on Monday. I'm sure the club will have put the covers on but if it snows a couple of hours before the game the club may need some help to clear the pitch or at the very least ensure that all the lines on the pitch are cleared and visible. I'm prepared to help out if needed. Maybe others are up for it as well....

Barrow's game was called off earlier today and their pitch looked flooded.

Morecambe Football Club would like to apologise for an earlier social media post saying today’s SkyBet League 2 fixture versus Cambridge United was definitely on.

The message was constructed by a member of staff with the best intentions but we realise this was an error and we would like to apologise to all Morecambe and Cambridge United supporters for any inconvenience this may have caused.

At 11:00am there were no problems with the pitch, it was only after a heavy downpour from 12 noon onwards that the pitch became unplayable and the referee called the game off.

Seems a bit of a flimsy calling it off, especially with the distance the Cambridge fans are having to travel. I've seen games played in far far worse than this! Seems like the ref can't be arsed getting a bit wet, should at least give the game a go for the sake of the travelling supporters!

I know the tweet was daft and short sighted but I imagine travelling fans would probably have set off at about 10am so it was posted after they set off?

As usual, an absolute shambles of an affair where the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. Went to buy tickets just as the ref was calling the game off only to find out when home. Even asked and was told the pitch was ok.Rang the club as soon as I heard to complain that they should hold off selling any more tickets whilst the ref is inspecting the pitch. Apparently nobody at the club knew that the ref was out on the pitch having a look at the conditions and so the poor guy in the shop is left unaware, selling tickets for a game that is about to be postponed. How can nobody know that there is standing water on the pitch and that the ref has turned up and is having a look

The guy in the shop also said that it came as a complete shock when he was told that the game was off. It seems the internal communication at the club is just as bad as the external...

Really feel for those from Cambridge who have made the trip up.

It's never stopped raining in South Cumbria this morning but I still set out more in hope than expectations.

I know I'd rather replay the game when the conditions are more favourable than on what would have been a bloody lottery

Have to agree, albeit with a more moderate tone. Anybody who checked the forecast beforehand would have known there was a risk on cancellation. Anybody who didn't, well...

That's not to say I don't sympathise with those travelling from Cambridge, or those like Ntini who left it late, perhaps even because of the weather. From my point of view another Tuesday night game, which I'm not fond of, but at least winter's out of the way. At least lunch at the Palatine was pleasant as usual.

The club's twitter is relied on by fans so should post the facts. To say that there will definitely not be a pitch inspection with no consultation with the ref is extremely silly.
We shouldn't have had to put out an apology as it is a mistake that should never have been made.
