Disgusted

Postby Potted Shrimp » Mon Apr 02, 2018 2:05 pm

Checked the officil club twitter to check the game was definitely on, at 13:30 before leaving it said the game was on despite the weather. Drive from Lakeland only to arrive and find out the game is off. Very poor communication from the club which to be honest has alienated me as an out of town supporter it takes time and costs money to come to games - a near 100 Mile round trip for nothing. Sign outside the ground looks ridiculous also - seen better in the west Lancs league. I will always support the club but communication is Quite simply a disgrace.

At precisely what time would you want the club to announce that the game was off... :?: :?: :?:

I too travel from Cumbria but the way the weather was in the county this morning there was always the chance that the game would be called off at the latest possible time following a refs inspection.

I travelled as far as Bolton le Sands tuned into Radio Lancashire who announced the game was off at circa 12.45. I don't see what more the club could have done.

Maybe they club should have employed a drone so that we could have tuned into live pictures of the ground before we all set off...

Some folk really need a reality check and realise that things like this happen It's not life or death after all if a game is called off. Far better to play it when conditions allow rather than in conditions that would have been a lottery. Imagine what this forum would have been like if we had lost thanks partly to the pitch conditions.

The fault basically was not that the game was called off or that the club tried to communicate early but that they used the words 'definitely on'. They should have said it was 'on as things stand at present but if conditions worsen it could still be called off' They have accepted that this was wrong and
apologised........everyone makes mistakes.

I don't know where you were looking at 1:30 but it was called off on all channels including Twitter at 12:40. Sounds like you're eyes are to blame.

Nice day out at the seaside for you eh?

Now how about an apology, now that the Twitter thing has been cleared up as you clearly not looking at it properly?

I feel sorry for the Cambridge fans BUT the weather forecast didn't suggest that the game would be in jeopardy. ALSO if any game in the North West was going to be called off early it was more than likely to have been Accy's game because as we all know how crap their pitch is in the rain.

The fact that their game went ahead tells us all just how bad the rain became in the morning in our area BUT at the end of the day it was the match official who had to decide if the conditions would have got worse had the match started. He took the view that the conditions at the time had deteriorated during the morning and had no alternative to call the game off.

Again sorry to the Cambridge fans BUT the ref had no alternative in view of the weather that got progressively bad during the morning.

If only we all had the ability to predict with accuracy the future... :)

Agree people can check all available channels to see the game is off. However, the “definitely on” tweet was grossly irresponsible and the club has done absolutely the right thing and apologised. I know who was responsible and perhaps they shouldn’t be given access in future and instead leave it to Matt who knows what he’s doing.

It was posted on here by MFC-Manc at 11:39hrs.

I agree the club needs to communicate better and have said so to them, that ShrimpsVoices should be used, because while not many people post regularly, it is read by lots of people. And the criticism regarding the board outside the ground is valid, in this case, with the late downpour, there wasn't much else the club could do. They've apologised for the early Tweet saying 'definitely on', when they should have said pitch inspection, but otherwise, not much else could have been done.
