A must win game tonight, if we get relegated, and It could still happen,
I can see the club folding and the land sold off to a property developer ( maybe from the northeast)??

We won't get relegated, we need 3 points out of the last 9 to guarantee safety even if Barnet win their remaining fixtures, I think issues off the pitch far outstrip anything on it, and all our league status does is adjust the price of the club.

I think going down this season would kill us off we need to stay up this year hopefully try and get some off field issues sorted next year so if we go down then we are more stable.

The only other option would be to go down go into administration and hope someone buys us then when tbe price is low.

My worry is if we go down we will fold as a club or if we continue we do a "Sunderland" and slip down another league next year. It's a huge game tonight. COYS

Getting those 3 points isn't going to be easy though... :?

Indeed, tonight's game for me is more important than Saturday's. Don't win tonight and all the pressure will be on us on Saturday. Barnet will have goal difference in mind (every goal will count as double essentially) with the difference being 9 currently, they'll be free to go all out attack with nothing to lose.

Hopefully the team go for it tonight, we pick up 3 points and start planning for next season.

There's still the point that if Coventry are safely in the play offs by the time we play them they could rest a few and go with second rate team. We on the other hand could be playing for our lives. Not good to rely on last match but all is not lost if we have to ;)

Looks as though the pitch will be wet which could dictate the way we play unfortunately..... as I had hoped that playing it like we did so successfully v Carlisle (on the deck) would have given us a platform for a good nights work.

Torquay and Chester just got relegated this season from the Conference too. We would be lucky to stay in the conference next year especially with 4 down.

The simple equation is win tonight and we're safe. So your first instinct would be that tonight is a must-win game. That means going for it which, to play devil's advocate, means risking leaving yourself more open at the back. If you go for it and are unlucky and lose, you then have a dint in confidence going into a must-win match on Saturday which would not be ideal.

Scenario 2 is to play as we have recently (Colchester, Lincoln, Swindon, Carlisle, even Crewe on Saturday) and try to keep it tight at the back. A draw tonight relegates Chesterfield. A draw on Saturday relegates Barnet. I don't think this is the right philosophy, but I can understand that Jim might want to go for a "don't lose at all costs" mentality for the next two games.

Two clean sheets = survival. Don't be surprised to see 3 at the back, 2 WBs and then Rose and Kenyon in front with more emphasis on defence than attack.

I'm confident we won't go down, as we have 3 bites at the cherry.
But I'd prefer to have the bite tonight and savour the taste for the remaining games!!!

we won't keep one clean sheet never mind two or three, we have to go for it today,

because 1 win = safety

As it is a must win game, can we not make use of the new scoreboard and put up clips of Wembley and other great moments? Play some inspiring songs rather than the usual tribute to Noddy Holder? Create a proper buzz, make us remember we were not always in this sorry state. Come on, lets be having yoooooou!

I understand the philosophy here, although I really struggle to believe we will keep a clean sheet against Barnet as they will most likely be super up for it after beating Newport 2-0 at the weekend.

I believe we can play attacking and still be relatively sure in defence. In the other thread, I suggested three up front and Kenyon sitting in a midfield three. If we press smartly with the front three and force Cambridge to move the ball out wide and trap them there, we will force long balls which is when Kenyon comes in. I generally don't like him as a player but he's aerially very able. If we press well and force long balls, him Old and Lavelle will be more than capable of mopping them up.

Would love this to be used as a tactic but I seriously doubt the management will go that direction and as you said, probably sit on a back three with Rose and Kenyon. This weather gives Jim a perfect excuse to use them that way as well, 'crap pitch' will be the excuse for sitting and hoofing.

Lose tonight and I'd expect Barnet to win on Saturday.
Draw tonight and I'd expect us to play for another draw on Saturday and Barnet still win.

So please, please, PLEASE go for the win tonight so we can relax! I can't remember when I last felt so anxious about a football match, and not in a good way

We also need Coventry to win tonight. We don't want to be playing them if they need the points.
