I feel incredibly sorry for Jim. I think the vitriol that’s being levelled against him (not by you) on here and Facebook is completely over the top. Let’s honestly list out what he’s faced and then tell me another manager who has faced any of this lot.
Lowest budget in the League
Players wages not paid this season after three times last season
Absent and ineffective ownership
Couldn’t bring in players until late in summer due to survival questions
Nowhere on grass to train in the winter
Can’t use club’s 3G pitches
Terrible pitch - no fault of Chesh but no investment
Two players brothers die mid-season in horrific accidents
Beneficial owner stops paying wages and operating costs mid-season
Christie’s Child on your back all season
I think any manager would have struggled with that lot. Most would have walked away like 46 points McIlroy did.
Jim should have done better with what he’s got and tactically we’ve been poor at times but any idea we could and should have been better than bottom six is ridiculous.
With settled ownership and a half decent budget it would be good to see what Jim could achieve. He’ll never do that here, as much as he always hoped he would.
