What price Cole Stockton/Shaun Miller now?

What price Cole Stockton/Shaun Miller now?

Postby fulwoodshrimp » Sun Apr 29, 2018 7:24 am

In the transfer window in January we did little business. Our only move was to sign Greg Wylde on loan. Apparently we enquired about Cole Stockton and Shaun Miller but found their wage demands too high. Now staring relegation in the face and the loss of the EFL money every year and the side seemingly unable to create a goal from anywhere it could have been good business to sign one of these strikers. It seems to me that opposition sides have done their homework and realise if you keep Callum Lang quiet you snuff out our goal threat. No one else in the side remotely looks like scoring. Is our best hope for a 0-0 result at Coventry???

The 2 players you mention would still have struggled to Score goals in this team just like Olivier who as struggled with poor service.

Miller was fortunate to have Devitt who had a shit load of Assits for us, hence the interest and move to Carlisle.

The spiral of decline John.

We started this season with serious ownership problems and possible administration. Only a very late commitment to fund the club for two years (ended already), which saved us and enabled Jim to cobble a side together very late.

By the January transfer window it was already evident that the promised money was simply funding losses and even that may end. If you were a business you would have cut costs even further to ensure survival but we lost some costs to afford to take on Greg Wylde. When we could barely afford to pay the wages of the players and staff we’ve got then it is very difficult to justify bringing any more in.

So many of the fans post about Jim Bentley as if we’re a normal football club. Far from it. Off the field we’re in a far worse position than we are on it and that’s the fundamental cause of all this.

And Jim seems to have lost confidence in Wylde putting him behind Campbell in the pecking order. Why oh why didn't Campbell take a shot when he was clean through in the first half !

Why do we pay wages for 2 first team keepers especially when the back-up keeper is not really good enough. We should have used young Maher on the bench as he looks better from his brief appearances than Dan Nizic and we could have used that wage in an outfield position. We have 4 centre halves signed on as well as Kenyon who can play there but no centre forward !
