Sorry to see McGurk leave.

No surprises otherwise.

This seems to suggest that Jim is staying.

Good luck to the released players. The one I understand but it saddens me is Michael Rose. Last season he was our kingpin and everything revolved around him. This season he has looked a shadow of his former self and I wonder why he has lost form so suddenly. Is it simply a case of age catching up with him?

So we must be thinking of giving kev another year?

I thought Thommo was only on a one year deal.

They must be the players in talks. Jim says some may go next week.

Rose, McGurk and Winnard must have been decent earners. Sad to McGurk go but I think he lives in the Midlands still. Win win, he got himself back in the shop window and we had a good player for the season.

Let's pretend for a second they were to get released, I think it would only be fair to announce their releases separately from the others so the club can pay tribute to them both.

Looks like a major rebuilding of the squad which is more than welcome.

With so many going does this suggest that Jim has been given assurances about next seasons Budget? With the debts having been cleared then it's looking more and more a new start for our club.

Only four regulars have left which isn't a major rebuild if you ask me. It would be nice to see any increase in budget spent on some real quality.

Don't need a major rebuild.

Just three first team attack minded midfielders to play infront of Kenyon.

Got a good keeper

Got a good back four

Got a good a Target Man

Just need to sort a deal out for Lang out or get a similar player.

12 of the squad have left if you include loanees and they were to an extent regulars. Thommo's position is unknown so that means 13 out of the squad. I would suggest it is a major re-build.

No surprise that he is hoping to keep most of the defence in his squad. A couple of players are fortunate to have contracts till June 2019 or it may have been more leaving !

Only Lang made any impact out of the loan signings. Lund and Muller haven't been seen in ages. Wylde started well but got benched and never regained the form.

I hope Jim pesters Paul Cook all summer long trying to get Langy back.

I still expect others to leave including unfortunately Old. His family are based in the South and he may want to find another club closer to them, but would be delighted if he agreed to another season. Formed an excellent partnership with Sam.

Sorry to see Brough go as he was in my opinion not given a fair chance to impress.

Not sure who this target man is.... ;)

Carlisle have just released John O'Sullivan (not the one who wrote Only Fools and Horses!)

This guy ripped us apart when he was on loan at Accrington and is just the sort of player that Jim helps recover their career.

The Carlisle forum want to get rid of Stockton. I'd have him back and alongside Lang ( if possible) could be a good partnership assuming that we sort out a decent midfield that is the engine room of any team.

He would be good for us again but he has a contract for next season and his wages are high from what Jim said when he tried for him when he left Hearts.

I'm slightly sorry to see a couple of those players go, but no huge shocks.

McGurk - there's a decent footballer in there but he's not set the world alight and it sounds like his departure may be a mutual decision with him wanting to stay nearer to home.

Rose - I'm a bit sad to see him go. He's not been in good form for basically a whole season but he reminded me of Drummy - even when things were going badly, he'd take control and try a killer pass when others would hide from the ball. A classy player IMO.

I suspect Kev will sign again for another year. Thommo for me has been hit and miss and with him set to be out until Christmas, surely there's little chance he'll be retained?

It's a major rebuild, no doubt about it. For the last few years, Jim has been trying to get a good defence, and maybe didn't concentrate enough on midfield. This year, he may keep a solid defence so can build his midfield instead which has been a "revolving door" for a few seasons now, with Moly and Goodall released who scored more goals than their replacements. Flemmo, Wildig and Kenyon all scored fewer goals (if any) compared with previous seasons and that needs to be addressed. We need midfielders who can contribute a few goals every season.

Can't recall a player released list being released so early following the last game of the season.

Wonder if this means that Jim wants to get h is new squad assembled as soon as possible, which if true could mean that he already knows his budget for next season and isn't prepared to hang around as in previous seasons he's had no choice.

Isn't there also a cut off date when loan deal have to be completed which is just before the start of the new season.. :?: o :?: :?:

I think things are happening earlier is because the "Window" closes earlier now. It used to close on 31 August but I think it slams shut before the first EFL game of the season which is usually the first Saturday in August.

Do loan players have to return to parent clubs before any negotiations can take place for a new club. Such as, I would love to see us sign McGurk on a permanent contract.

I thought McGurk was released by Cambridge and had no club when we signed him last season?

Kevin just tweeted that he was going on his hols and then said "Just like Arnie I'll be back" !

Could be a clue that his negotiations have been successful.
