I am not blaming existing fans at all posh, or absolving past directors of any blame, I think I have made my feelings about the McGuigan regime very clear , I am merely pointing out that the club needs much more support off the town or it will never succeed in staying in the league or indeed ,solvent .

I am as suspicious as you regarding the motives of our new owners.

Posh is pretty much spot on. Know Your Customer (KYC) is so important when It comes to repeat revenue. We have several different types of fans we should try and understand them all because they all contribute. These include hard core, casual regular,, casual not regular,, kids/teens, away, corporate, family.

I personally have gone from hard core to casual not regular.. Some of this is the clubs fault some is personal circumstances.

I believe that poor quality football probably takes more away from casual regular than anything. Poor service from hard core. Away will pretty much stay the same.

What concerns me is the club wants to bury its head in the sand whilst there are loads of people willing to offer advice and help the club think it knows best.

I get all that but you said that the principle reason for the club’s problems was the apathy of the town’s people. It isn’t.

You think about opening up a shop in Morecambe. You first work out is there enough people with the income and interest to sustain it. Then you build a shop big enough to cater properly for them. Then you market the business regularly. And then you make sure you check with you customers whether the offer, prices and service is good and address it if not. If you don’t your customers don’t come. And it’s your fault not theirs.

People have hundreds of choices where to spend their money, including watching Sky Sports or going to watch Preston North End or going for a day out in Manchester. If we don’t give people a compelling offer or disappoint them every time then they won’t come.

Through junior football and school I know hundreds of people who have been and want to come to game but there is no incentive for them or Marketing to them. I’ve brought loads of them but won’t anymore because I can’t do the club’s job and their kids don’t want to see me swearing or having a meltdown. Seriously, my own son doesn’t come anymore for a lot of reasons.

You’re starting to sound like a few people on the staff and board who think that blaming their customers is an intelligent thing. It isn’t. It is the end game. It is the culmination of people who’ve given up finding answers and instead blame everyone but themselves.

To succeed a business has to have happy loyal customers and works constantly to find the answers to maximize the experience. Good companies have databases of their customers; do market research; try to understand why people come to games and no longer do; they go to other clubs and trial ideas that worked for them; and they do basic things like marketing. On all of these our club fails miserably.

Good companies don’t lie to their customers about improvements to the experience and it doesn’t open a new shop and completely fail to build on what made the old one work. It certainly doesn’t blame its own customers who it desperately needs for its own failures.

It’s not too late to change it but if your view is the same as the board and staff then you may as well close the doors now or give it to someone who does understand the basics of running a business focused on its customers.

Apathy. FFS. They gave the club their money and the club didn’t do enough to get them to come back. Never blame them.

Only a few weeks ago against Barnet our "home" support almost doubled. days after another home game where it was only a £10 to get it, clearly nothing to do with pricing with stay away fans.

For me that's evidence we've got Football Fans who want to watch Football, who can also make the club self sufficient.

It WAS the last game of the season with a supposed exciting finish on the cards... Anyway, it’s always busier at the last home game of the season...

Yes granted busier with the last home game of a season by an extra 200 or 300, not an extra just short of 900, especially when we've been getting around 1000 home fans(away not included), nearly double.
