Thanks for the summary, Rapid Shrimp.

2 defenders and a midfielder required as a minimum.

Not sure we need another 2 goalkeepers though! Personally I’d stick our best youth keeper on the bench and bring a loanee in, if Baz gets injured. I’m starting to feel a bit sorry for these young keepers who we sign every season and inevitably never get any proper game time.

99% sure its the one and only position you can have an emergency loan signing at any time of the season.

and also, id stick the best youth player on the bench, worse case scenario if things went Pete Tong you'd just be in deep shit for one game, then bring in a emergency loanee.

Absolutely. We've had a few really good loanees in the past.

That's not a bad looking squad. Good blend of youth and experience. Don't think we'll be having many loanees this season after all. Well done Jim.

Was unusual to see the squad have a full training session today, on a Saturday.

Goalkeeper Mark Halstead in talks with JB. Former Blackpool and Shrewsbury Town keeper currently at Southport spotted today at the Globe with JB, probably as back-up to Big Barry

What's happening?
A plethora of signings...
By the first week in July...
A midfielder with plenty of League experience...
AND a proven goalscorer who bagged 29 last season...
Pretty much all positions covered...?

JIM OUT

Mark Halstead is added as our squad fills out. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is just loans beyond this point (that surprise L1 midfielder could be a loan :?: ) but we dont look to have a half bad squad!

I think a lot depends on how much Jim trusts / intends to use the likes of Brownsword and Hedley (and Mendes Gomes and Jagne). Historically he has not really trusted the youth with only Doyle (and obviously McGowan) getting any real run. Personally I like the idea of having a younger player in Brownsword as 4th choice CB but then again given we occasionally play with a back 3 is that enough cover??

Similarly I would be happy with Hedley offering cover to Wildig, Fleming,Kenyon and Tutte in the centre of midfield so I hope this L1 player is a wide player..preferably with pace given the aerial threat we offer in Oliver, Oswell (his Stockport compilation involved a lot of headed goals) and Kev

Sam Lavelle is only 21 and was given a great run this season, so Jim has started to break that mould.

My worry would be that if we wanted to play 3 at the back or if Old got injured, then we would have a relatively inexperienced heart of the defence in Lavelle and Kenyon. I'm not sure what Sinclair is like at CB but possibly that is the cover Jim has brought in if Old were to pick up a knock?

Jim is after signing another centre back so we should be well covered there once he gets that player in.
