So with Bolton game off, is it worth buying a ticket for the Fleetwood game??
Perhaps we should have arranged a game here against
Leeds as part of the transfer deal bring some pennies through the gate and no doubt a little tv coverage

Shrimps win 2-3 with 2 goals from Campbell and his first of many for our club from Gomes.

New signing Mandeville missed a penalty.

Game played in pouring rain.

3 goals in 2 games. Has he found his level or is he going to do it in the league!!

Alfreton highlights are on the OWS. Like the way that we played keeping the ball on the deck and a lot of movement off the ball. Campbell took his goals well and looked a threat throughout. Just wish he could do it in the EFL on a regular basis. Still no Oliver or Conlon, maybe still recovering from their accident of Tuesday. Wonder if that is it with regards to new players or is JB still hoping to bring in a creative midfielder with a bit of height? Can't recall a close season with so many new faces which suggests that he's had his budget increased significantly. Excellent if so but puts pressure on JB to improve results.

All this talk of pressure on Jim, I think there are a few on here who want him to fail. Always tend to have alliterative names for some reason.

What sort of transfer fees are we throwing around now we've got a big budget, out of interest?

dont think we'll be paying transfer fee's? it more of a case of attracting players with no clubs with more money

No transfer fees but possibly some signing on fees paid to some of the players.

Way back in the past we paid £10,000 signing on fee to Chris Lane !

And I think John Norman said he had a house extension done with the signing on fee he received when he went to Hednesford.

Transfer fee's don't really exist at this level. Players are not often on contracts for more than 2 years. The odd up and coming player or a potent striker might move for money but on the main, they wait for contracts to expire. You can't judge a League 2 manager on his net spend as it is no existent. Spreading the budget out is the important thing for a Manager like Jim. Getting value for money and trying to polish a few rough diamonds. Players like Flemmo and Kenyon are vital in a squad because they aren't massive earners but offer more than they earn.

Interesting how clubs like Southport are reported to have spent over £30K on a striker and AFC Fylde £50K on a central defender. Shows the excellent work done by JB with the backing of the new owners in the quality of our new signings with little if any money involved in transfer fees. Personally would like to see us sign a creative midfielder able to compete in the midfield aerial challenges but suspect that the squad is now complete.

I think Jim said he wants another centre back so maybe one more to come in unless anyone goes out on loan :!: :!:

Well this is my point exactly. I've seen no proof of dramatically increased budget so I don't know where this extra pressure has supposedly come from.

The perennial shit stirrer obviously mentioned it, but I thought there was a general consensus not to take what he says all that seriously.

How do you work that one out? We released lots of players so lots of new ones needed to come in.

Look at where our new signings have come from:

Mills - released from a L2 club
Cranston - released from a L2 club
Mandeville - loan from a L1 club
Halstead - signed from a Conf North club
Oswell - signed from a Conf North club
Sinclair - plucked from obscurity in Sweden
Tutte - released from a relegated L1 club
Oates - released from a Conference club

I can’t see anything from that lot which suggests Jim has had a large increase in playing budget. It’s still the same looking for gems from non league and trying to put together a side with players no one else wants at our level.

There has been an increase in the budget, the owners confirmed it at the forum.

The owner confirmed at the fans forum that Jim had received a "modest budget increase".

We beat bigger several teams than us to sign both Oswell and Tutte. It is no doubt about it , a bigger budget than last season , by how much nobody but the board and Jim know.

Any particular reason why it wouldn't be true? They were asked and they confirmed it. Pretty black and white to me.
