Gomes and Jagne

It's not often that we get a couple of youngsters who promise so much (in my opinion) BUT what worries me is that they could be snapped up by a larger club either at the end of the season or even before then. As both are under 24 and only on a 1 year contract, we would probably receive some mediocre fee for them but if they were given new 2 year contracts now then would that entitle us to a bigger fee (assuming that they progress as I'm confident that they will). For me it's worth the gamble of negotiating 2 year deals for both even at such an early stage in their development.

If we can justify giving 'strikers' 2 year deals then surely we can for such talent as Gomes and Jagne.

Ah, have you seen them play then? I haven't seen them. What are they like?

Based on two short cameos Carlos Mendes Gomez looks the better of the two. Against PNE he was excellent and bar one weak cross (he put three cracking ones) he never gave the ball away once. He was always trying to find space but when it was tight he opened up play by being able to pass a ball ‘around the corner’. Great touch as well. For me he played better than any of our midfielders have so far this season. Only question is whether he can put a tackle in too, A shoe-in for me to see if he can deliver consistently.

Jagne is the Crazy Kid. A lot of good attributes but was so determined to get the ball agsinst Exeter he was all over the pitch - right wing, left back, attacking mid, left wing. Didn’t do much wrong with it when he got it but also did nothing discernibly different with it either. He needs a bit of discipline in his game otherwise he will just be the Crazy Kid.

Two real prospects though and I hope they both get a chance, Carlos Mendes Gomez this Saturday ideally.

With neither of them being in the bench, with Hedley being favoured over them, will they ever really get a good chance? Especially CMG, not even been on the bench for the league games!

Lewis Allessandra was unable to play on a Saturday when he first signed so god knows what Jim will come up with for these two. The Oswell farce is bad enough
