There were even plans drawn up and presented to build a new stand and hospitality area etc on the Car Wash side...!!

From questions that I raised at a shareholders meeting regarding the cost of redeveloping CP it became clear that that was a non starter due to the financial cost involved and also the well intentioned move to a new purpose built stadium was seen as a progressive move by the Board. However subsequent financial happenings on a global scale affected the original plans that resulted in a far from perfect stadium that the Board have acknowledged on numerous occasions.

As for investment in the team, the new owners have cleared the outstanding debts and increased the managers budget we are told. Whether you believe that or not is up to you and others but although their silence is of concern maybe that is the way that our new owners prefer to do business. Maybe in the coming weeks their actions will show that they are in it for the long haul and not to asset strip as is the believe of some. After all the club has the safety valve of the Christie Trust to ensure survival of the ground at the very least.

Nonesense

There is no evidence so far that the new owners have given Jimbo a budget to purchase a top quality goal scoring striker or a creative midfielder.

Redevelopment of Christie was progressing already. How much was spent on the beloved North stand?

The decision to move ground was not supported by the majority of long time loyal fans who had legit concerns which proved to be correct but sadly were ignored.

Where is the evidence to prove that? As a fan of 60+ years I don't recall being asked but had I been i would have most certainly have agreed with the move as it was presented (at the time) a huge step forward for our club and an opportunity that if managed properly could and still could prove to be a superb move for our club.

And as for purchasing a top quality goal machine, even in our league clubs are now spending 6 figures+ on a single striker in the hope that it will be money well spent. There is no way on this planet (or even on your planet) that our club could afford or even should spend that amount in the hope that they score upwards of 20 goals a season. Too often we've spent money on players only to be let down badly ie Walters a few seasons ago. I suspect that we may have paid signing on fees for some of our current strikers ie Oliver in the hope that it would be money well spent but history shows us that everything in football is a gamble, a gamble that we simply can no longer afford.

Directors past and present have bankrolled our club (as others do elsewhere) but there comes a point when even they say 'enough is enough'....and who can blame them. I'm just thankful that we've survived until now in the EFL but who knows what will happen come May 2019. One thing for sure changes will be made with casualties as part of those changes, but for me the survival of our club is paramount whatever league that may be in.

COYS.

I think everyone at the time realised we had to move to progress, we could not afford to develop Chrisie park without the Sainsbury's money, and 3 sides of the ground were no good for the football league anyway , it's what we ended up with that people are unhappy about, a fantastic amount of money has been mispent and we don't even own what we are left with.

2nd this.

12 Million should have been enough money to build a complete stadium and training pitch protected under the Christies Trust.

I think the sale of Christie Park was in the region of £8 million.

This wasn't enough and in order to be ready for August 2010 more money had to be raised , hence PMG Leisure was formed and mortgaged.

So did i untill i got corrected last year off somebody who worked at MFC in the know back then.

But unless its in black and white in public, there will always be rumours as we all hear different storys from inside the club.

I still don't see what it's to do with fans about how much the club got for CP. Whatever it was it appears to have been insufficient to build The Globe to the original spec. Now that could be a fault of the developers underestimating the costs ( that is a regular problem in the building industry going back to to the 60's and early 70's when I worked inside an architectural practice) resulting in that costs increased to exceed the original budget hence the need to cut back on the original spec.

No shareholders out there with minutes from the meetings after the sale of the ground? I thought the balance showed a positive of about £8 million? The year after is was back to being minus!!

This was what was originally planned according to BBC Lancashire, and the Visitor

A smaller main stand, but instead the 3rd tier and Corporate Boxes what were added came at the Berlin Wall side's expense.

The 2 stands behind goal we could have had seated, but were changed to Terracing to encourage a better atmosphere to please Fans.

As i see it:
It was at the time of the crash

The costs went up as there was a delay

The Sainsburys money invested didnt gain the amount of interest due to above

Suits got giddy thinking they could just charm money out of corporate, while ignoring fans. Wild Boar steaks sums that up

Missed out on a humongous grant as we chose not to go all seater

Threw a lot of money at a lot of has been players from a catalogue, who often just sat in the stand and thought they were better than us

Didn't budget for a training ground

No doubt lots of various other things that can be added

I seem to recall MFC wanted seating(future proof) but our Fans were banging on about replicating the old North Stand saying standing creates a better atmosphere, so the that why that decision was made.

If they had brought the not so old North Stand round it may have been a better atmosphere . ;)

It was always said it was too expensive to move, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Yes i was told they planned for seats, but fans wanted a terrace, probably expecting the same, similar or an improvement.

This thread has gone from Moody Blues to Moody Reds

Chris Shuker for one..........

"I had a bit of a bad time mentally in the game with a few things that happened at Tranmere and then I went to Morecambe, where I didn't enjoy it. The training was poor and I basically spent my time thinking that I didn't want to be there. It wasn't a confidence issue with me it was more to do with the training and being unfit because of it. It was a bit of a bad 18 months for me. Players who don't have your ability, but who want it more, become better than you so I had to sort that out. They wanted it more than me there because that was where they loved playing and basically I didn't want to be at the club. That wasn't down to ability – if I wanted to I could turn it on. We did the same thing every day – playing 15-a-side games on a postage stamp. Touching the ball was like murder, and playing on a mud bath every single day was terrible."

PMG claimed there was a 200k shortfall which he personally stumped up to make sure the ground was finished.

The Heart stand must be the worst designed stand( besides Carlisle's which is 30 yards longer than the pitch) in the Football League.

This is what Chesterfield got built at the same time as us for 13 Million in comparision.

Steel prices and intrest rates considered, would be just the same for them.
