Mandy is a cracking player who many seem to agree should be playing down the middle and opening teams up. As we’ve got few wide players though this is forcing him out there.

Having said that he really needs to stay off the drink. A few mentions at the game on Saturday of his previous antics. It is only going to destroy his potential - as well as his liver.

My only criticism of Mandy is that he doesn't shoot often enough , he gets past two or three players and will then pass rather than shoot , but he's not alone in that department . ;)

Mande is definitely going to be a big player for us this year, quality and with bags of potential.

Hopefully he’ll soon get a goal and that will really build his confidence. Looks great on the ball but occasionally ‘fluffy’ as in not always playing a killer pass, or as said, taking a shot. I think the potential is there once he builds more understanding with his teammates.

He should be unleashed from his defensive shackles and allowed to do more sustained damage to the opposing team.

For that to happen he'd have to be the 10 in two up front, in my opinion!!

He got a goal the other week. Good goal from outside the area proving that if you shoot it might go in!!

I would just like to say thank you to everyone who has expressed an opinion on Mandy.

I actually agree with just about all of your comments about him. I was concerned about the comment, which is based on hearsay, about Mandy and the demon drink! My guess is that Mandy lacks a little maturity, found success hard to deal with but seems to have turned the corner now and is producing good form on a regular basis.
I would like to see him successful at Morecambe, make his position permanent and if he was my kid I would want him to move on from Donny and enjoy his time at Morecombe.

Best of luck at Grimsby and I hope Mandy gets a goal or two. I know he can do it but he has to play just behind the front two and forget his defensive role.

The way I see it Mandy had a period of success early on at Donny scoring 9 goals and was then injured, came back too soon, injured again and then couldn't get back in our team. I think Mandy made his feelings known and our manager took against him for whatever reason, I just don't know. It was rumoured that the manager wouldn't even talk to him when meeting him around the club. The next thing he was sent out on loan to Colchester where Mandy spent most of the time on the bench, a total waste of time, says a lot about their manager.

I think you have a gem in Mandy as you can tell from my posts. He will have bad games, they all do, but Mandy is a young player with a lot to offer. Its obvious he can play at a higher level Morecambe should get him on a free and sell on in good time.

Just think what Morecambe would get out of Mandy if he was played in the right position for him, more goals and assists.

I have just watched the highlights of the Cheltenham game and I think it shows exactly what I have said about Mandy. He was involved in both goals by unlocking their defence with excellent passing. The manager should forget about Mandy doing a defensive roll, he can't do it and he is wasted out on the wing.

He would be a great signing for us next year. The problem is that the better he plays the more likely it is that a club with money will poach him.

No, I have no connection to him at all.

I happen to rate him very highly and think that he has been treated very badly at Donny. On our forum the opinion of Mandy is mixed and is now getting very heated. We don't know why he was treated the way he was at Donny and we will probably never find out, until he retires that is.

From what I have read on your forum it fits exactly with how I rate him. I suppose I am a little protective of Mandy but we all have our favourites and Mandy is one of mine and I want him to do well.

If you have read my earlier post you may have noticed that I even made the effort to watch the Swindon game to keep up to speed on Mandy's development.

You may be interested to know the Swindon GK, Mc Cormick, was at the centre of an incident where Monty missed a penalty when Donny played Plymouth. He ran up to Mandy and verbally abused him. that's the point that Monty started to fall off form. Our Captain Coppinger, one of the most respected players in football grabbed Mc C by the neck and was duly sent off.

Whats your opinion of Mandy?

I think Morecambe should sign him on a long contract as soon as possible.

Our only hope of signing him is if Doncaster announce that he won't be getting a renewed contract, in January,* thus allowing us to offer him a contract from next summer. If they offer him a contract, even if he doesn't sign it, then Doncaster will get money for him. If they don't announce anything in January, then we'd not be able to offer him anything then either, unless we're prepared to pay compensation. If it goes until his contract runs out next summer and he's then released, he'll be touted around all over the place and we won't be able to afford him.

Our best hope is that Doncaster allow us to offer a contract in January on the basis that he'd be released by them, and he believes that coming to us is the best way to revive his career. If not, then we need to just enjoy having hime here until next summer.

*I'm assuming his Doncaster contract runs out next summer?

Not wanting to be pessimistic but I fear we may not get to enjoy him until the Summer. If he continues impressing for us you would think other clubs would be in for him in January when his loan deal expires.

Yes I think his contract is up in the summer. Mandy seems very happy at Morecambe and personally I would like to see him stay. Something happened at Donny and he wasn't happy. Our new manager never really looked at him and that annoys me. The problem for Mandy is that if he came back, had a bad game, the morons would be at his throat and that would destroy him. There is something to be said for playing in an happy environment you are getting the best out of him.
