I think PMG was seeking finance in some form.

It was strange that they announced themselves as new owners 4 days before we could have hurtled into The Conference with little prospect of a quick return judging by the experiences of York , Stockport , Torquay , Dagenham etc etc

No, not forgotten at all. There's land which isn't protected by the trust, i.e. artificial pitches, part of car park, most of the access road around the ground, land at the front, control room/community block, etc. A lot of scope there for development. I.e. artificial pitches are worthless as they don't have access, UNLESS whoever owns the club (and therefore the access road) grants access and then it becomes a very valuable potential building plot, same with the back part of the car park. And like others have said, it would be possible for the "trust" to sell the whole site and move the football pitch again - just like what happened with the move from Christie Park.

Well said. These rural folk can be a bit naive.

We get relegated, have no money and go bust. Mayfair Finance own the ground. “Excuse me Mr Whittingham can we play football?”. “Yeah sure, but you can’t use any of the buildings, stands or other stuff sat on the land because I own them”. Errr...

As for the land being worth more as a football club. Worth more than £750,000?

Just a small point Mr Posh, sir, but can we avoid stereotyping of certain groups (in this case 'rural folk'), as it's exactly this type of attitude that leads to prejudice. Besides, it can be quite offensive being lumped in with someone with whom you rarely find agreement, particularly on a matter where you don't agree.

I don't think anyone has mentioned "Boardroom View" by Rod Taylor in the Tranmere programme.

Some interesting snippets :-

re training facilities "My opinion is that we must find a permanent facility and develop it to be able to give the manager and his staff the best chance of producing footballers to compete at this level".

re the home end "By the time you read this I would hope that a planning application has been lodged for the development behind the home terrace which will enhance the match-day experience of our supporters who populate that area. I will update you on that development as soon as I have more information".

and "Another initiative that I have been looking at is the creation of a memorial garden for our supporters at the ground".

Rod is obviously confident that these two, backed by PMG, are the real deal.

We’ve been suggesting the first two points for years now and the last one is a great idea. Obviously wouldn’t have been suggested if there wasn’t a belief that they could be funded. Let’s hope so.

So if Rod who we all respect is showing confidence in the new owners, any chance that we as fans can also show a bit more confidence ourselves and stop some of the negativity :?:

It is about time in my opinion that we as fans demanded more info from our new owners regarding plans for the long term future of our club.We have been too passive in the past and need to exert some pressure on them. There are so many rumours about about their plans, where did the Ince rumour come from? and resignations of long-standing officials. And if people on here know or think they know whats going on then they should speak up instead of giving 'knowing winks' to each other. We are all grown ups on here so lets have things out in the open please!

You can demand all you like, but you'll only ever find out ulterior motives once it's too late. If their intentions are good, then that's great, but if their intentions aren't then what do you expect them to say?

If the new owners want to run the club in order to climb the leagues and do a Blackpool/Wigan/Bournemouth, then what will their response be?
"We're here for the long term with exciting plans for the club."

If the new owners want to asset strip the club by whatever means, then what will their response be?
"We're here for the long term with exciting plans for the club."

I haven’t actually wanted the Trust to take control and I’ve never suggested it. In my view Morecambe football club is owned by all of us already. Morecambe Football Club Ltd is the legal entity that manages it. When Darlington went bust the football club survived it was just another company that was established to manage it. As a result, I’ve always wanted owners who understand that. Ordinary fans don’t have the money but others do. When someone comes along they either spend the money for their own vast egos (e.g. putting your own name on a stand) or for your business gain. Others realise that like buying a painting and then permanently loaning it to a gallery or giving a large sum to charity you do it for the greater good and not your own. In my view David Brockbank, Mike Hinchcliffe, Rod Taylor, Nigel Adams, Graham Hodgson gave to the football club predominantly for the greater good. I don’t think PMG, these two or Diego did and I wanted and still want change to a more beneficial ownership that the club, fans and town will get behind.

Having said that I f we go tits up and end in the North West Counties then we may as well be fan owned.

Another thing I haven't seen on here and it hasn't been on the OWS yet but was put on the club's official twitter was the new sponsor for the home end which was formerly the "Omega Holidays" stand.

It is now officially "The Ace Scaffolding Stand".

Yet again this seems like a good news story which should be trumpeted on the OWS and in the press.

I presume that is Matthew Taylor from Purple Property Group.? Will they send scaffolding from Manchester to Morecambe economically?

I can only imagine they must be looking to branch out getting a yard in the area, as there will be way to much down time with traveling from Manchester everyday aswell as a lot of competition already around here in order for it to work.

I guess I could put several pages of :o , but I would prefer to see an official announcement first (and as soon as possible too).

Then we can all go :o , or whatever is appropriate!!
