8 changes from Saturday,so Jagne, Oswell, Pigott, Kev, Cranston, Mendez-Gomes, Hedley and Halstead start. Lavelle, Conlan and Yarney keep their places.
Goal down already, bugger.

Morecambe were a bit sleepy

We were so slow for the ball knocked in, that I thought their lad must be off-side! He wasn't, we were just "sleepy".

Bloody hell! Kev off injured after 21 minutes. How big is our treatment room?

What a belting header from Oswell! He’s a man that needs crosses.

Defensive slip, punished with a good finish.

Poor defending from Yarney.
Got to go for it now if we are to make the Sunderland game anything other than a dead rubber for us.

Any thoughts on Mendes Gomes? Seizing his opportunity or waste of space?

Lot of good stuff tonight but yet again slightly the better side but not enough quality in the final third, but it's only the Chaka Khan I suppose.

Ah well. Can't say I'm too upset to be going out. With the length of our injury list, the less games is probably a better outcome. Be nice to beat Sunderland for the cash but otherwise...

I still think this competition would be more popular if they had the first couple of games pre-season or very early in to it.

Shame we still have to play the third leg of this nonsense cup , more injuries and must lose loads of money on the night with just over 500 through the doors . It just no good for a sretched small squad which is struggling in the league :(

Gave some squad players a run out but it's the same old story. Struggling in cup matches too. Looks like we had a 3 game blip :o

He gave 100% effort and was good at tackling/winning 50/50s, but far too often gave the ball away cheaply after he put a lot of effort into getting it. Also a few times, tried to be too clever with fancy footwork and lost the ball. Personally I think he's quite a way from being a regular first-teamer for us. He needs a lot more training, particularly game management and team-work. He gives the impression he's spent too much time on the field, practising on his own and not enough time with real opposition. Definitely not a waste of space, and was perfectly competent in the role, but at the moment, he's not a game-winner.

Yawn. We were good against Tranmere and nobody gives a shit about this cup. The blip was the start of the season. Thankfully most of the fickle ones have realised that and piped down.

Must have been a lot of the self-appointed "true fans" who were too tight to pay for a £5 ticket to support the club!

Lots of cash for picking up points though. A win v Sunderland and we'd be in profit for the tournament. Qualifying from the group stages brings in a lot, so not a waste of time in that respect.

As I say, if the first game or two were played before the season started, then attendance would be better.

He has to learn that football is a simple game and quite often the simple pass is the most effective.

Fancy back-heel passes are great if your team is 5-0 up.

He does have a lot of skill and if used correctly in the team ethic he could well have a good career ahead of him.

Good assessment, there are loads of positives and he has great ability, just doesn't always use it and loses the end product, I think Jagne is showing more substance on the pitch, but both need work and are giving the ball away too often. You can certainly tell they like being on the pitch together.
It is exciting when they are on the pitch, wondering what may happen next
