Legacy Ad Hoardings

Legacy Ad Hoardings

Postby Zippy » Wed Oct 10, 2018 6:57 pm

I am aware of at least 2 advertising boards at the ground, that are legacy , i can understand why the club may leave them on file, given removal most probably invokes cost. However political advertising i would suggest should be treated with more rigour, my question is 1. Is David morriss(mortis) ad fully paid up?2 if not is there some other reason it remains ? 3 . If no do the club require some sponsor to remove it, pm me if thats the case - there are hopefully strict rules around political advertising , and i hope this **** does not have a free pass, through default

Not known you to have strong feelings mate :) , historically it is true that boards remain, even if not currently paid for, until someone else pays money to replace them, obviously this may have changed under our new regime

Does Zippy have a reason to suspect that the David Morris board isn’t being paid for?
If it isn’t then I’d agree it should be removed as it is not the same as standard sponsorship. That said, I think all sponsorship boards that aren’t paid up should be removed or painted over, otherwise, where’s the incentive to renew next season? Plus, if I chose to use a business that advertise, on the basis that they support the club, I want to know that they still offer that support.

I heard a rumour it is paid for by the C Prem Tory boys, only a rumour mind. It is a quality of bit of marketing though. The smug grin of a Tory MP slightly elevated above the poor folk who have paid a quid less so they can buy a 3l bottle of Barnstormer from Acre moss stores on the way home.

From memory all the adverts on the wall around DM were taken down in the Summer and replaced by new hoardings so that would suggest payment has been received.

I would throw in some money to have it removed and advertise “Neils towels” instead(or red robbo whatever he is called now)

There's a couple still up for a company that no longer exists, clearly shown in Keith's screenshot of the Tranmere handball/corner incident on Saturday.

That would be at the Heart Radio end. Certainly the Berlin Wall hoardings were stripped away in the Summer.

Why is it not the same as standard sponsorship? As long as the legal rules re political advertising are complied with, it's all the same. It would only be a problem if both Morris and the Lancaster Labour MP both had adverts, but one was removed when not paid, but the other wasn't.
