TBH I'm more concerned about our house flooding; the game can be rearranged. :(

With our list of injuries a postponement might be no bad thing.

We can take precautions to protect most of it, and it has only happened once so far in 13 years, but it was just the type of sustained, heavy rain we're facing Friday and Saturday. I'm really not the paranoid sort, and fortunately last time we got through without having to make a claim on the insurance, so fingers crossed (and for someone who's anti-superstitious, that's a ridiculous thing to say!).

If you have too much of that wet stuff (rain is it called???), please send it over here. We have had just less than one hour of rain since May. Admittedly this last few days we have had much thunder and lightning, and all sorts of forecasts for rain - but still waiting!!!! I am having to water my lemon trees to ensure a supply of decent lemons for my G & T's. :D :D :D

Seriously I hope none of you suffer any property damage if the rain does come in the quantities forecast.

Important info for everyone travelling by train to Carlisle tomorrow... As it stands, Network Rail will be imposing a 50mph speed restriction between Carnforth and Penrith to mitigate against landslips due to the forecast heavy rain, so Virgin Trains will only be running one train per hour north of Preston to cope with the disruption and delay that will be caused.

Only the xx:55 from Lancaster and approx. 10 TO the hour back from Carlisle will run.

The xx:08 from Lancaster and approx. 10 PAST the hour from Carlisle will be cancelled north of Preston.

I'm not aware of any cancellations to Transpennine Express services (approx. 20 past the hour from Lancaster, approx. half past the hour from Carlisle) at this stage.

Note that journey times will be extended by around 40 minutes because of the lower speeds.

Anyone with seat reservations on cancelled services will be allowed to catch other services but obviously there'll be no reserved seat for you on these, although you may need to stick with the same train operator depending on the type of ticket you bought.

There is also industrial action so there will be no Northern Rail services on the Morecambe branch.

Am I correct in thinking that with it being International weekend those of us who can't get to Brunton Park to watch a magnificent victory can pay £10 on I-Follow and watch it live ?

If it remains like it is at the moment it could be a lottery or even put off as the Carlisle area is experiencing winds of circa 70mph at the moment and the forecast for KO tomorrow is not looking that good.

I think the front has moved slightly north west from the original forecast, but we've had a fraction of the rain originally forecast a couple of days ago. Carlisle however is looking like being pretty horrendous for the next 24 hours, so I would say there is a real risk to the game, particularly given where Brunton Park is and what's happened previous years on Warwick Road.

So far the rain hasn't been as heavy as forecasted and there's no mention of the weather being a problem on the Carlisle forum so hopefully the game will be on. The trains that are still running will be even busier than normal though.

With our injury list, having it postponed may actually be a good thing! Fingers crossed for more rain! :D
