Quiet again on here...

Quiet again on here...

Postby Freez » Sat Oct 13, 2018 6:42 pm

We took 347 today, another great performance, another win.
Yet it's quiet.
We lost at Crawley and took 70, but it was busy on here with all the people with an opinion???
Funny that!

Just saying, have a lovely evening everyone. ;)

Nah, but when i went into App Store before, a pop up message came up asking if I want to allow location to downloaded apps when working or something, so could be that.

Last 5 matches and 10 points although it should have been 12 and could have been 13.

Last season only 9 wins in 46 matches. Already 4 wins in 13 matches.

Freez ............ fully understand what you are saying and I agree that there are a number of folks that only post on here to have a grumble (such as when we lose); I'm afraid that is true of life in general. I'm sure we all know lots of "Happy Harrys", who are only truly happy when they have something to grumble about. We meet them in pubs and generally throughout life!!

However I think it's also fair to say that there are a good number of folk on here who do not only post negatively (and I include myself); you may well find that a number of them are simply walking around with a contented smile on their face because of a job well done and an excellent result yesterday. Of course they could also be so cheesed off at some of the negativity posted on here that they have just walked away.

Shame because I think that some of the players in the current squad appear to be amongst the best we have had since joining the Football League, and when all are fit (or should that be IF), there are going to be some interesting decisions for JB to make.

WELL DONE TO ALL FOR YESTERDAY'S RESULT (PLAYERS, MANAGEMENT, AND SUPPORTERS).

And to be fair many who have been critical on here are also now expressing their satisfaction with the improved performances.

Agree with this. It's just a fact of life, people are generally a bit more vocal when there's something to moan about. Seems daft and unnecessarily divisive to try and make and issue of it.

Coming up to 40 posts on the match thread along with some replies added on the Vadaine Oliver thread. True, it's not huge amounts of activity but I wouldn't call it quiet. A lot of the posting is just more content, unsurprisingly after a great result!

Not making an issue of it, I accept it is a fact of life that more moan, however I was just posting a positive thread, in a separate thread, as when we lose, there are always numerous threads saying the same thing. Sauce for the goose and all that!
Not being divisive at all, just treating a good result with the same positive emotions as a defeat is treated by the negative ones.

Fully agree.

I'm glad to see the team have started to click and we've had some decent results, hopefully it'll continue. Any fool watching the games could see this was coming. There is still fragility in some areas of play and I'm sure we'll still have some setbacks, but we're improving with each game. I'm sure the couple of lads who were really toxic in their campaign to get the manager out only went on like they did because they love the club.

They just happened to be wrong and not know as much about football as they liked to think. I'm sure they're pretty embarrassed at they way the went on, so we don't need to be having a go at them.

I do not think fans were being toxic, just expressing their views.Has anyone thought that the combination of the criticism on here and the rumour of Paul Ince has had a positive effect on the management?

It was very toxic. Like I said, I really don't think we should have a go at them. I'm sure it was just misguided love for the club.
Now if they want to take credit, that would be pretty funny.

The Paul Ince rumour appeared to be the catalyst. Perhaps the new owners are motivational geniuses?

It is quiet on here again, to be fair there can't be many unhappy with that level of commitment and style of football. Just a bit of nouse and some luck is missing.

Me and my lad went home to watch the Liverpool match.
We'd have stayed but the club got rid of BT

£2 a pint, 5 mins walk away? Time the club price it selves against its local competition not London clubs prices. Shooting themselves in the foot with blinkered views. Those running the bars should know better, they've been in the business years in the local area. Was BT on in bar? Another reason people didn't stop.

Let’s looks at the numbers. I don’t know how much the club pays for beer but a keg of carling on starstock is circa £89. Let’s round that down to £88 as there are 88 pints in the keg so cost price £1 a pint. At £2 a pint the club would make 67p per pint after taking the VAT off. Also the bar is only open every now & then. So after each game they will need to clean the lines. That will be around 4 pints per line in wastage.

Now onto BT Sport. I asked the club how much it cost. I can’t remember exactly but I think it was circa £1200 per year (businesses pay on their rateable value). We have around 18 home games on a Saturday of which at least 2 are international weekends. Therefore max 16 games where we could show a BT game = £75 a game. At the pricing above they would need to sell 112 pints just to break even. Add in staff costs etc and it’s pretty easy to see why this is not cost effective.

I do know the club is well aware of some issues with the bars and are working to some solutions. This will take time.

We were upstairs watching Liverpool on phones till bar closed, we then went to downstairs bar which was still open but nobody in it. Left at 7.15 as we wanted food.

No wild boar steaks on ?

In the NPL days and also the Conference days they used to sell pies from a hatch in the bar under the main stand at Christie. It's sad that we seem to have gone backwards :( :(
