how many home fans do you expect to turn up?

I'd expect all the self-appointed "true fans" to turn up. Otherwise they're hypocrites. They're the ones who criticise others for not attending every match or daring to criticise Jim etc, saying that "true fans" would always support the club. Regardless of whether you think the trophy is pointless or unworthy, the fact is YOUR CLUB, of whom you claim to be a true fan, need your support - you are damaging your club if you don't turn up because the club will make a loss if too few attend, due to the costs of staffing, security, etc. If you really are true fans, you'd turn up for all games to support your club. Sorry rant over, but hypocrites really bug me with their virtue signalling and holier than thou attitude.

This is a valid point and I would like to offer an example of such behaviour. At the Stoke game, I was at the Ticket office window happily paying my £5 admission. I say happy as it was a heavily discounted price and I was going to sample the PMG stand for the evening. As i was willingly parting with my hard earned, a very vocal member of this forum was collecting his freebie from the freebie window which is situated bang next to the Ticket office window. Now this person has often slated me for my posts and on numerous times has stated that the club is in a terrible financial position and unable to spend money on anything. Is he a true fan or is he in fact doing damage to the club? I will no longer be accepting his opinions and views on here. I won't name any names.

If it was a freebie ticket it was obviously going to someone who is a volunteer for the club and helps out.

Volunteers, you know, the kind of people who - without them being there - clubs would struggle.

I've been a home and away Morecambe fan since 1985. Season ticket holder since 1988.

I've worked for the club as a volunteer (my time and my expense) in various capacities.

Last season though, and this season to date, I've not been able to attend any games due to personal and family reasons (those that know, know).

BUT.

I still spend money in the club shop and obtain match programmes etc so yes, I do consider myself (still) to be a true fan.

There is no definitive definition of a 'true fan'. I've had a season ticket for 10 years+, but don't go to away games and rarely to cup games, so in many eyes, including in some respects my own, I'm not a 'true fan'. A 'true fan' is generally what someone wants it to be to suit their agenda, and I have, once, been guilty of that, although I did subsequently apologise.

If someone isn't prepared (or even able) to come to the Sunderland game, they shouldn't be slated for it.

That’s my opinion too. For me, you have to be a “true fan” to be associated with MFC. They certainly test all our metal.

I know the sort. There was a couple on here when we had that poor start to the season. Thought they knew it all and kept spouting off at every chance they got. Turned out they were talking shit and the ones who told them that were right.
