Really???

I thought Cranston had a really good game, especially considering he was being played out of position!

Hit the woodwork, had two shouts for a handball in the area (one would probably have been harsh, but seen them given) and played a promotion chasing side off the pitch in the second half. Huge injury list, bare bones side today.

So how did that work out then?

Thought Colchester’s recruitment in the summer was really strong, how did they look today?

And in turn, how did our injury hit side fair against them? Sounds like played well and a 1-0 against a very strong side and with our own massive injury problems doesn’t seem the end of the world.

I thought we played excellent in the 2nd half and was only stopped by a blind ref from scoring. I can’t complain about the effort the lads put in and yes I clapped them off, hoping they will keep playing like that.

Thought it was pretty even in the 1st half TBH, their goal was a soft goal to concede, possession 1st half was probably right as they passed the ball a lot but didn't really pose a threat till the goal.

2nd half cant believe the time wasting from the start as if they were happy with the 1 goal and sat back quite a bit and time wasted.

thought we were good second half and gave it a go, Oliver nearly scored with his header and 2 shots blocked by players which I believe one may have been Kev who it hit.

thought Oliver for all the stick previously he's got, grafted today and put in a shift, he deserved to have scored that header that hit the cross bar.

Cranston doesn't suit a midfield role however gave it a good go whilst we are in a injury crisis and thought AJ and Manderville looked good again, some nice footwork from AJ.

on another day we would of got something, hope we get something Tuesday night

Yep lots of applause at the final whistle despite the result. Most fans recognise the team are playing some good stuff. We gave it a real go second half and were unlucky not to take something from the game.

The lads gave their absolute all today. I think we deserved to come off at half time with a 0-0. Second half we were the better team by a long chalk. Mills was great again, Oliver deserved to put the header in, and fantastic team effort. Think Mandeville was slightly below his normal, but still a positive performance. Clapped the lads off big style at the end. Colchester went home knowing they nicked it today. Roll on Mansfield. COYS.

There goal was always coming. Luke had 2 men all the time down the left. kev never tracking back. They worked it well and was well taken. Big Vad unlucky with 2 headers. kev was a shadow of his former self 60 mins now at most. Give young lads ago. Deserved a point but if we get 3 on Tuesday then no subs makes sense. If not a wasted chance imo.

Deserved a point today, especially after the second half performance, but Jim, why was Kevin in the starting 11 and why was he still on the the pitch at the end, we had two young forwards on the bench, chasing the game, get them on the pitch. Not wanting to knock Kevin, he has been brilliant for the club, but he has lost that pace that got him into goal scoring positions. The perfect example today, second half, half a chance, the goalkeeper blocked. Two seasons ago, the ball and the goalkeeper would have been in the back of the net. Applauded the team off the pitch, and will be there on Tuesday.

Great performance against a very good outfit, how we didnt get something from the game i will never know. We will play a lot worse and win.
Disappointed we didnt try the sub nearly everyone is talking about but what do i know. Some great interplay, we seem to have stumbled into a system that is exciting to watch, pity Oates wasn't there as i feel he would have made a difference.
The timewasting was embarassingly appalling, should have been 10 mins added in 2nd half.
Someone told me tonight he had a stop watch on it and there was 18 minutes wasted in the 2nd half with subs and rolling around

Great football from the lads today.
As was said by Glen and Freez, we are going to give someone a right tonking very soon
Playing like that.

Just goes to show how we all view individual performances differently. For me I thought Cranston had his best game for the club and proved a more than capable deputy for the absent Tutt and Fleming. Some of his through balls were superb and his tackling in an unaccustomed midfield role was inspirational. I'd have no problems in seeing him in the midfield on a more regular basis.

Sad to say that I thought Kevin contributed very little and should have made way for either Carlos or another striker to add weight to our front men.

Once again Mandy was outstanding and even won a good percentage of his tackles, something that has been missing from his game to date.

Felt sorry for Jim and Co for their visible anguish at the blatant time wasting of Colchester. As i suggested maybe we are a bit too honest and Jim looked at me and shook his head in agreement.

An excellent entertaining game and absolutely no complaints from me other than the non use of subs.

Funny that people are complaining about time wasting, we are at it all the time away from home. I've seen it start after 30 min.

Sorry, there's a difference between a bit of time wasting and blatant cheating. At one point the ball hit their No 4 in the chest and he went down as if he'd been kicked in the nads.

Maybe they haven't dropped yet...................

No, probably not, just a horrible cheat!

We are not very good at it though, Baz can get away with it, falling on the ball and rolling it in his gloves, but specifically at Cheltenham all the nonsense cost us the win, IMO

I thought we put in a good performance on Saturday and deserved more, but you have to question some decisions made.

Firstly, I thought Jim got the formation and team selection spot on. However, after 50 mins it was clear that Kev just wasn't at the races and won nothing against their RB. So why no change? Oswell, Gomes and Piggott must be wondering what they have to do to get a game. Clearly good performances and goals in the reserve/cup games count for very little. Everyone I heard leaving the game were all saying the same. I get that we were battering them, but we still weren't scoring. So why not even take off a defender and try to overload them with another attacker? I can't help but think these are the games that come back to bite you at the end of the season.

I have to single out a couple of individuals for their performances on Saturday. Firstly, Sam Lavelle was outstanding. Really good communication, lead the back 4 well and looked confident playing the ball out from the back. How we keep hold of him beyond this season I have no idea!

Conlan and Mills also need a mention. I thought they got the balance between defence and attack spot on. Good positioning, excellent transition into attacking roles and gave Colchester a lot to worry about. If they keep playing like that it will give us the upper hand on most teams in L2.

Finally, I thought AJ had a fantastic game and would have been my man of the match. He looked like he had so much time on the ball, held it up well, brought others into the game well, and was unfortunate not to get a goal. Mandeville, Tutte, Mills and Oates all look like really good additions this year, but I think AJ could be the catalyst to turning this season around.

Onwards and upwards!
HOWAY THE SHRIMPS!!!!!

On topic(ish) and proud!
